They can still play the market, still buy cheap, craft and sell high all the way to 60, and can even gather at 51-60 nodes, all highly likely without accessing the new zones...

No they aren't. Look at how much they've put into the progression system for crafter's/gatherer's, they even implemented an entire Beast Tribe to them.

But the game still focuses on story and combat.
That's what I meant. You either grit your teeth or don't.
If you don't wanna level up a job, this game isn't for you sadly.

No they aren't. Look at how much they've put into the progression system for crafter's/gatherer's, they even implemented an entire Beast Tribe to them.

We have no significant data on the new tribes yet, let's not muck up the discussion with that.

Also, you cannot roll a DoH or DoL. By design. Because they are not the main focus of the game.

Lastly, and probably most importantly- A battlecraft class can play the MSQ and little else (including grind), and with Heavensward adjustments they can get lvl 1-50 likely in less than 12 hours, and because of the superior gear rewards built into the questline they will already be sufficiently geared to complete Steps of Faith. Per SE.

I suggest less than 12 hours, conservatively, because a couple friends, even today without the Heavensward boosts, can grind to 50 on a combat class in about 9 hours.

TLDR: Demanding handouts is pointless. People who refuse to do MSQ progression are not owed the perks of doing MSQ progression.
