The thing about balancing:

Any game or gametype will always have a metagame that uses the most effective means to secure a win

Any competitively balanced gametype generally always has multiple metagames or eventually has an overbearing counter to the orignal meta

Casually focused gametypes such as slaughter generally only has one counter to the meta, which is the meta itself
