    Lets start with the basics.

    Frontlines (slaughter) time limit 15mins. Cannot kick any (toxic) members until 5mins have passed. Universal rule to instances. Cannot add new members once past the 10 minute mark.

    So to kick an afk'er (or bot) thats pushing the jump key every 1 min 59 seconds, you have to wait until 1/3rd of the time has passed, and once thats done you are left with a missing member for the remaining 10 minutes of the match.

    To kick or not to kick? might as well just ignore the issue, spending the time and effort, may very well be a distraction, seeing as how we cant replenish our numbers. Well played.

    Countless CC's without CD's. screams "PvP was not taken into consideration at the earliest stages of game design"

    PvP only knockback skills, not every job/class gets one, making for an unbalanced playfield under given circumstances. First off why do knockbacks even exist, too delicate in relationship to the communication between client1-to-server-to-client2.

    No class balance from the earliest stages of class/job design (because pvp was not taken into consideration at the earliest stages of game design). A certain job/class can beat every other job/class in 1v1 circumstances simply because their kit is that overwhelming. Good thing 95% of this particular job's player base are complete failures.

    2 battle rez for healers, one with a 1 minute cycle. Definition of battle rez: instant cast resurrection during combat.

    2.5 base gcd as the base screams "PvP was not taken into consideration at the earliest stages of game design"



    First step to a solution. Wipe all existing "pvp only" skills so the devs can work on whats already in the game and broken under pvp circumstances.

    More "(pvp only)" adjustments to existing skills. Random examples: "Sleep (PvP 20 second cool down before next use, single target only)." Mnks need a ranged attack, so they can get that limit break ticking without losing a limb. return of chi-blast?


    List is endless, the first form of pvp in ffxiv came in an arena style last one standing scenario. Instead of instanced CTF or Hardpoint. This first step screams "whats a quick fix for that pvp hungry crowd?" because Arena is just a hole in the ground, while CTF and hardpoints require extensive balancing. PvP is merely a quick fix branch in the eyes of the devs behind it. Its a side job for the devs.

    PvP Dev team constantly observing players, to make informed and balanced adjustments. In that other particular successful MMORPG in the west, the highest tiers of Arena were under constant surveillance by the devs in charge of PvP balance. Before Arena they watched premade groups go head to head in CTF, hardpoint and siege. Sadly said game have devoted most of their decisions based on Arena circumstances over large and open world scenarios.

    PvP is one of those features that needs its own dedicated team behind it, because there is a PvP crowd thats made up of millions of users, where they only thing they do online is PvP. If PvP is made into something beautifully refined, you can attract afew hundred thousands of this crowd to the game.

    Wait time is number 1 pri. Get wait time down!

    Do afk effect Q time? Pretty much the only thing I do in the game is "afking" while pvp q is up. I'm asking 'cause... this is just sad...



    I use duty finder like this:

    Join party in progress - checked
    All languages checked
    Only frontline roulette OR slaughter checked

    Prime time, as I experiance it, is between 9 - 11 in the evenings. Other than that matches are far between. Bummer for me as I'm usually early to bed (or very late :P).

    Dont queue for all languages, you'll get locked into a low population language and you'll be stuck in there until you requeue

    Yep, that is a thing on european data centre. I also usually requeue whenever i reach 30+ minutes.

    The design of frontlines is also botched for class imbalance (while you can swap to whatever you class you want, I thought frontlines was meant to be more of a casual approach toward PvP for newcomers, fighting against 18 BLMs in slaughter is anything but).

    Because this is what I typically see when I queue as a Maelstrom, not including the ones in my own party because I'm too lazy to filter out names for those.

    Trying to do a 3-way match in any PvP objective is just asking for trouble when it comes to being sandwiched...let alone players being freely to swap between those teams (causing more queue problems).

    Oh, and sob sob ps3 players in slaughter where everything happens in the center.

    In the end, its just not fun for me the way it is. Sure I get wins with all those blms, but I actually felt a bit nauseated after playing frontlines once as a maelstrom.

    The thing about balancing:

    Any game or gametype will always have a metagame that uses the most effective means to secure a win

    Any competitively balanced gametype generally always has multiple metagames or eventually has an overbearing counter to the orignal meta

    Casually focused gametypes such as slaughter generally only has one counter to the meta, which is the meta itself

    Seriously ease up on the exp gains and add a "prestige" system. For people who want to get the armors for glamour all they have to do is level and they can equip it and glamour it but will not get any of the secondary stats and materia slots UNLESS they "prestige" and earn a star next to their rank. This satisfies both groups as avid pvp'ers can see who is dedicated by who has more stars and people who do it for glamour can earn it more easily. This will definitely decrease the wait times as more people will do it for the glamour and possibly stay since queue times are shorter due to more people running for glamours. PvP is a side attraction and should always be as one and should not take as much time to level as it does in PvE.

    Does everyone agree that melees dps could use a reliable ranged slow beside Weapon throw? The cooldown is 90sec (60 if upgraded). Most casters have a spammable ranged slow or the sleep spam =/ It's so easy to get out of melee range if you just keep running.
