Adventurers are generally assholes to the common man while being saviours of the world. It's an interesting mix (see Zelda as an example of a klepto property destroying force for good!).

It's more like "The gamer behind the adventurer is, at root, an asshole because they can get away with it and excuse it under the pretense that it's 'all for the common good' or 'it's just a game, so who cares?'" Sometimes they don't even excuse it and just revel in the bedlam they leave in their wake.
