And so, my attempts to be deep and insightful go over the heads of all but one person.
Welp, back to just being hyped for the expansion. And doing calculus, but that isn't fun.

I mean, you're talking about cognitive dissonance, but that only works if you don't have to pick and choose what to take literally in the first place.

We also are not sure of the context behind them killing those monsters (and Garleans) maybe there was ANOTHER invading force? The tales speak of beast tribes kidnapping a Zodiac Brave's loved ones? It's kind of easy to point fingers when we don't know the whole story. Maybe the Hierarch that held my Nirvana was a remorseless killer, maybe he just defended his/her people.
If the full stories HAVE been released and collected, then I'll eat my Dreadwyrm hood, until then, we can just speculate.

You know, if my depth and insight keep going over your head, you might one day catch them!
(Yes, I'm trolling. No, I won't spoon-feed you what I'm getting at.)

You're just layered like an onion, aren't you? =P

I love me some parfait!

I'm not a parfait, OK? I'm like tiramisu, except instead of sugar and sweetness I'm harsh and bitter!
So I'm not like tiramisu at all!

I think it was mentioned when you're picking up the books that these aren't the exact same monster types that the Zodiac Braves fought, but Eorzean equivalents. So while you may be hounding Amalj'aa or Sahagin or Garleans, it was probably other beastman tribes or enemy Spoken forces that the Zodiac Braves fought back in the day.

If I recall the last quest of the zodiac zeta weapon correctly, the original weapons gained sentience and their glow when they where used to kill demonic invaders. As detailed in the Book of the Netherdark. Honestly, the name of the book combined with the fact we where gathering souls, and many many tales of demonic possession of evil weapons from DnD in my youth made me a little worried about sentient weapons.
