You can level to 50 without entering a dungeon. What the hell is your point? It doesn't change the fact that the reasoning behind all the job specific mounts was to get people playing those jobs.
I believe that their point is that the CNJ/WHM mount is lower level and doesn't require you to enter a dungeon even once to get it. The WAR and PLD mounts do however, as they're tied to achievements you can't even begin to get until you hit 50, (if I'm not mistaken at least), and that require you to do grouped content even then. That indicates that the Tank mounts are more of an incentive for players who actively play as a tank in high level content, while the CNJ/WHM mount is more of just a "bonus" for players who get to level 30.....
Not quite as functional as some other options but I'd like to see Dragoon get a jump transportation ability xD. Could see it as a very far range target ground ability, or if they can detect ceilings (probably can't, perhaps detect cave) then have it launch the Dragoon into the air and let them sort of plummet back down (very high into the sky, like the game trailers show, but minus caves cause -bonk- KO, floor tank).
At least for the flying zones I can't imagine it breaking any pathing. Then a ground targeting version in ARR areas would help prevent that, can't target non-reachable areas. Talking about movement abilities, fix the other abilities too~. It looks like you are jumping or blinking to a target area but you're actually doing more of a "slide" (specially the ninja ability).
Not opposed to each job having a mount, I think it would add encouragement to level everything and I love collecting stuff (also gives SE a lot of player hours), but they should probably still encourage tank/healer more (so perhaps tanks and healers get an upgraded version to their current mount, as part of a new achievement?)
Edit: Forgot how easy it was to get the healer mount, well - make the new achievement not like that :P lol.

Not quite. You just need a 30 CNJ. I flagged this quest and the WHM quest at the same time. I completed the WHM quest first. I couldn't even turn in the unicorn quest with my job crystal. I had to switch back to CNJ.
WAR - Bear
PLD - Lion
WHM - Unicorn
SCH - Tonberry/Butterfly
DRG - Drake/Wyvern
MNK - Tiger
NIN - Frog
BRD - Eagle(zu ..)
BLM - Snake
SMN - Big Carbuncle
AST - Carpet
MCN - Gazelle
DRK - Rhino
While i do love the idea of every jobs get their own mounts, the reality would be that there would be a mount that is looking better from the rest.. The next thing that would happen is, the party at large is going to be unbalanced with 4/4 dragoon dps as noone prolly want to use monk to get their monkichi mount (just an example).. Then another problem would arise with dps gets as much incentive as much as one would play a tank whereas the tank has more weight to perform which is the current issue even up until now..
thats my point ;/ why make healers mount so easy to get while tanks 1 takes x amount of dungeon runs.. imo every class should have a mount available but all the same requirements to get it, 500 dungeon runs for example
because in 2.0, there was only CNJ as a healer for lv15-30, creating a huge imbalance in the duty finder. thus putting there the unicorn to give incentives to the players to level that up and fill dungeons. the low level roulette solving the problem only came in 2.1.
On the other hand, the tank shortage is everywhere, and was a big problem at end game (Ex primals and coil). that's why they put tank mounts there.
