    Macros - Provoke/Berserk

I main a War, I have macros for provoke/Berserk which include notifying the party.

I use an Xbox controller on pc. When I hit either skill in a fight, naturally I button mash it about 6 or 7 times.

I end up spamming party chat as the text repeats every time I hit the button.

Is there a way around this?

    Two simple ways:
    1 - Don't mash buttons
2 - Don't use macros for common junk. Nobody cares that you just used provoke. A healer that isn't paying enough attention to see you have berserk up to clear pacification isn't paying enough attention to read that you just used berserk. Plus it's only 3 seconds of pacification if you're doing it right.

Fair enough. I used them for a bit, then took them off. I had a healer suggest using the berserk again. The reason I mash is that sometimes the action will not trigger.

But I think I will just remove them, I would prefer not to be the party chat spammer.

I have provoke on macro due to tank swap mechanics.

It's a lot easier to for the other tank if you announce that you are about to take hate. Especially late in the fight when everyone got lots of hate and it can be hard to see the hate difference between tanks.

Imo it would be nice if provoke had a better visual cue.

I think for raids a provoke macro can be useful as well, let's people know who is stepping in if main tank goes down.

There is a way to not spam the chat and still be able to use your macros:

    /macroicon "skill" (optional)
    /ac "skill"
    /wait 1
    /p "message"

The /wait command makes it so that the message is only relayed if you let the macro finish, if you use any macro while the 1st macro is being used, it will interrupt the 1st and begin the second, making it so that the macro is interrupted before you use the message, which means you can spam the button as long as you like and the message will only pop 1 second after you press the last macro

Problem with this logic from Provoke is that you usually want a notification so that tanks clearly know when you are swapping. Most tanks use macros on Voke in Coil for this exact reason.

If you can afford the space, place a one-line party channel macro next to provoke on your hot/cross bars

    /p <Provoke> <Just used it>.

Keep it next to provoke, and in situations where you need/want to use it, can press it as provoking. But then there's other situations where you don't want to broadcast your voke, like a 4man dungeon.
    ..
And as for the Berserk Macro, most of them I see are a waste.. A healer will see the Pacification Debuff icon in the party list at the same time your 'I'm pacified' chat pops up in the chat log. It's redundant information.

If you want to notify healers, have the /wait command be a few seconds shorter that berserk's duration.

have the 'I'm pacified' message pop up when there's 3-4 seconds left on berserk. If a healer reacts, they will esuna/leech you perfectly,

but just having a message pop up at the same time the buff incurs is redundant. We'll see it. But usually we're mid-cast on something else, and by the time we switch to esuna you it's barely shaving off a second on that pacify

i've tried to unlearn button smashing.. can't
