Market Board Woes and putting up for auction

Another day on the Market Board another item being sold for less than what you can NPC it for.
Seriously do people just like to undercut the item to annoy other people who spend hours farming.

I tend to sell my items at a steady rate and not undercut, but recently i'm over stocked and can't sell due to people drastically undercutting, i mean to the extent of selling items for 1g.
1st if your farming for items to sell, the only person profiting from your super low sales is the guy crafting from them that means your spending hours to sell 10 x 99 items at 1gil a pop someone is snatching them up and making 5k per 3 items for just putting them together.
your only ripping yourself off, for a cheap fast sale.

2nd you can sell at the same price for the item from you home nation where the buyer will not be taxed, so he will favour buying from the nation he is at to avoid the cross nation tax, so if you see somone selling items in gridania you can still put them up in Ul'dah for the same price. I do it myself, check after tax which one is actually cheaper to buy, even though they're different prices.

I just can't understand peoples logic in this, we are all here to make money on the boards, why would you make it so hard for DOL to make gil apart from certain items, if your selling for a Gil NPC it, you might make more.
Your Not doing anything other than Killing the Economy,

It's mostly a problem on legacy worlds because the population on them are generally......let's just call them "happy." On newer worlds it's not so much a problem. Undercutting wouldn't be a problem if people weren't..."happy" about it. For example if you list something for 7k and there's only 3 up, why would you list the same item or flood the market with the same items for 1-2k? Most people are just too..."happy" to know how to calculate cost and worth. Sadly though, it's usually the..."happy" people who have no gil issues that ruins it for the rest.

Dropping 100g to sell faster? Expected - Dropping it 1-80k? That's just a bit...too "happy."

buy them from the market board and sell them.. earn a few bucks and help press the rpices up again.

But yes i agree with you, it boggles my mind at why ppl do it in the first place..

    Welcome to Ul'dah!

We don't have an anti-monopolies commission here, we have the syndicate - a more cuttthroat group of traders you won't find outside of Limsa Lominsa; and they emphasise cuttthroat more than trader

The majority of undercutting happens at the weekends, the prices rise steadily Mon-Thu. If you are clever, you can make money without having to farm at all! People are idiots though, I completed a Botanist quest last night and had roughly 50 Alligator Pears left, looking to place them up for sale there was perhaps 20 lines of stacks of Pears all selling at 1g each. Dafties.

It's easy to make money in the game with a little thought and effort, you just to use your smarts.

In wow it was even easier

Just install an auction house addon. Scan all the items that are priced lower then vendor price. Buy sell to vendor.. easy gold every day like this.

What amazes me is the fact that people even AH items lower than default price to begin with. The price that items default to on the AH is the base vendor price, so they actually have to put forth more effort by lowering the price to get less profit. Wut?

Fine by me though, since people can just buy the items and then run 2 feet to a vendor to get even more gil out of it. I've snagged a few dungeon greens (10-25k+, depending) for like 26g or w/e they default to as well, which is always very nice.

That's their fault for trying to make quick gil. I've made some good money buying stuff that sells for more to a npc.
