That's highly unlikely given that everyone has to download HW regardless as to whether they have purchased it so has to be downloaded through the game like a patch would. The timer is just telling you when it becomes playable. It will also be a bigger download then the 12gb or what ever it is that the PSN says it is for the entire bundle.

You wouldn't be forced to download HW regardless because they are separate downloads the same way they are separate discs that you can buy at the store. not everyone buys expansions and can still play the game without it. That's why the game wouldn't force me to download an expansion that isn't out yet because it's not required.

Also I unchecked to download HW and disabled auto update on that add on so I know I don't have HW downloaded or installed. I'm wondering if anyone else has this digital bundle purchased and is having the same issue or if it works for them, coz it doesn't seem to me like it's working as intended

Probably because they felt that that by putting exactly when the bundle would be playable people wouldn't assume that only counted for half the bundle.

Of course everyone will have to download it. How else do you think people will get the changes and tweaks to the existing content and server that comes with HW as well as preventing there game from crashing or have invisible people the moment an Au Ru or Dark Knight appears on their screen because they don't have the data for it or any of the new content for existing areas on the system. .

You need to buy separate disks at the store as an alternative to downloading the data and to get the code that gives them access to what they downloaded.

Regardless it only locks you out of that content, not out of the game entirely. And if the launcher downloads HW and not psn like my downloads list says then everyone would be locked out of the game right now because the launcher automatically downloads HW for everyone and it's not available yet. This is honestly besides the point. I don't have heavensward downloaded or installed. I can see it queued to install on the 23rd and not in my recent downloads list at all. I'm looking at it now.
Thank you for trying to help but I don't think I'm gonna get anywhere until I hear from others that have downloaded the bundle as well and see if it's the same for everyone or if it's just me. You could very well be right but until I hear from others in the same situation, it's just speculation

I agree with you OP, this does seem like it's an issue, rather than simply being "because it's linked to Heavensward" as the other posters seem to think. From what you described, the bundle basically gives you three downloads. One is the game itself, as though you bought just ARR from the store. The second is Heavensward, as though you bought just that from the store. The third is the theme, which is over all unconnected to the other two for this purposes. Because PSN sets up multiproduct downloads in this way, one doesn't interfere with another, and thus the Heavensward part of this shouldn't be affecting you ability to play ARR any more than it does other players who have just purchased ARR from the store.....

As for a fix, you can try the obvious, such as turning your system completely off and back on, (not just putting it into rest mode). You could also try either checking for updates through the PS4 itself, by pressing the "Options" button and selecting "Check for Updates". If that doesn't work, then the only solution I can think of is to delete your download of ARR, and try redownloading it. It's always possible that a system file wasn't downloaded properly, and is causing this bug.....

Or try to install the free ARR client from the PSN store instead the ARR client from the bundle. Then start first the ARR client for registration and patches and after this install the Heavensward pre-load.

Also test if PSN is currently down. Even if there is a maintenance for ARR, at least the launcher log-in screen should show up if the PSN is online.

Thanks for the help, I had already tried deleting the game and reinstalling a few times, full shut down of the system and checking for additional updates, and making sure that heavensward didn't download and auto update for that is set to off.

The link above interests me because I know that at some point the ps4 version would be linked to my account and that there was a 12 digit code to do that but when I downloaded the game I didn't get anything. I am also fairly new to using the ps4 and navigating it's interface so if I did receive a code or instructions on how to register my game to my account, I missed it. But that link makes me think it might be an issue with that and I will check to see if there is a code somewhere that I missed

I had assumed that would happen after I log in for the first time or if no code was required because it was digital but I don't even make it to the log in screen and I could be wrong about the code so I'll double check

Nvm, seems the code is built in to the digital download of the game so I don't think I can try the suggestion from felis about downloading the trial to do the updates and registration since the registration is tied to my specific full version download. It also doesn't seem like psn is down since my gf has been playing ffxiv on her ps4 while mine keeps giving me an error and saying maintenance
So I'm back to square one ._.

I have also seen that link but it was only one guy that said the bundle is broken and I don't believe it's intentional because More people would be posting about that. It doesn't seem like it's working as intended.

This seems more like an issue similar to that link that no one is bringing to their attention or posting about because it looks like the only ones who have bought this bundle are me and those 2 guys on gamefaqs o.O

I can't be the only person who has purchased this bundle, me and the 2 guys on that gamefaqs thread can't be only only people to have bought it. Is there really no one here who has purchased this?
