    Lag recently started a few days ago

    Just a few days ago the lag started. I didn't have a problem before then.

    your trace is showing signs of congestion well before it gets to Ormuco, the company hosting the NA servers. While the maintenance may potentially address some of your problems, it won't be all of them. Some will need to be addressed by your ISP. Depending on how closely they monitor things on their networks and their routing partners, they may catch it during the next couple days. Just depends on their policies.

    So if you are still seeing the * events and big lag spikes like are present in this trace (Hops 3, 6, and 7) than you may need to get in touch with your ISP's Tier3 support. May have issues getting to them over the phone...sometimes you fair better using their online support options. Save off some of your tracerts, and run some to other popular services as well for a comparison--it will help build a better case for them to get involved.
