Can you explain to me the differences between the Yukatas? Because the one on men PCs looks like it was lazily put on, while the one on girl's looks like it's just being worn properly not a good example of "Men's clothes" imo. You're trying to give examples of "Female clothing" by only showing sets that the girl PCs can wear, you've yet to give a definition of what "Female clothing" even means. Does it mean long and flowing with poofy aspects to it? Because lots of robes and skirts are like that too. Does that mean tight and form fitting? Because the Flame's loincloth and subligar are like that as well. The OP made a variant of the outfit for male PCs and I still don't see how it looks like "Female clothing". I mean, this is a game where you can wear this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...0.png~original This is on a male PC, note the Midriff but covered chest (Much like the bunny set), the shoes that are basically heels (Well, minus the heel part, but you get what I mean), and the incredibly tight pants. If that's not feminine, then I'm not sure what you're trying to get at.
Except SE can and should do it. Japan isn't a monolith and at the end of the day I'm sure plenty of stockholders just want to see the money continue being pumped out. FFXIV is a cash cow right now and I doubt making some of the current girl's only sets available for men is going to kill that.
Well.. What about One Piece and the Okama? While they're kind of a joke they're also very important characters and the protagonist of the series is great friends with them. Again Japan isn't a monolith, and it's not like SE couldn't just "Lol here's the dress FOR THE LULZ THOUGH don't wear it seriously EVER! wink wink nudge nudge."
Like, people send each other death threats all the time though, hell celebrities get them so frequently Stateside it's almost hilarious if they weren't things like "I'm going to cut your throat open". Look at the model Kayo Satoh, who maintained being a very popular model and street fighter player even after coming out to the main public that she was transgender. Or this Japanese comedian http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masaki_Sumitani to which I'm pretty sure what he did, which made him even more popular, was hardly "Maintaining his image". SE being the massive company that it is is able to do this sort of stuff though, they can actually take risks because currently FFXIV is making some big bucks and they owe it to the fans.
What I really don't get is, if they wanted to not worry about modeling from the girl model to the boy model, why not just start every set with a theme on the men then model it for the girls next?
