My main character is female but I really support this idea. It looks pretty damn amazing on the guys and I can't really see why this couldn't be a unisex item.

Sorry, I didn't mean it as an argument to keep it this way, more as annoyed grumbling that SE is forcing that upon people who do want to wear the new dress. The "still get access" remark is more tongue-in-cheek on how females get all the female sets PLUS male sets because why the hell not, but this isn't applied in reverse. I'm really bummed SE has decided to go the way of making female-exclusive gear but then deigning not to do the same to males. Why should we be more limited in glamour choice for not choosing to play as a female character?
Unfortunately, I posed this question to SE before and they didn't want to answer, just locked the thread. Two months later, they just repeat the same gig and dance. I don't trust SE to fairly consider it anymore, so it feels like their stance is that you should just play a female character if you want access to more glamour sets.
I'm actually strongly considering putting this dress on a male Roe too so that people can see that what they'd call the worst scenario looks just fine. I think it might look better on them than a lot of the gear actually.
clothing and armor shouldn't be sex-restricted anyway. a dress is a dress and anyone should be able to wear it if they want. No need to have it change.
I see now, sorry for the ruffled feathers! I should probably go to bed (it's almost 5:30am) but I've been trying to monitor the fallout from the various media I've put these designs on. @_@ Here, JP forums, Tumblr, Imgur, Reddit (although someone actually linked this thread before I had the chance *pout* Oh well, as long as peeps see it).
Haha, I'd even give a picture of my Roe to you to do just that! I'm digging the bottom portion of the set, and if the top had no cloth and all jewelry it'd be amazing to wear as a caster. (I'd throw on that gold circlet you get from tomes, some long gold earrings and play around with some gear to make things work well).
Here, if you're in the mood.

I'm unsure if you're able to adjust with these images, or have to make your own character; however, it is worth a shot to try and ask. :P

I think someone on the dev team is ok with guys wearing dresses. which is how we got bogatyr's longcoat.
Because when that is paired with a skirt, it's a straight up dress.
This is Okay:

But this isn't?:

Also I am shocked that people say guys won't take it serious. The amount of females I've seen in male wear sloppily put together to me is just as bad. For a company that makes so many effeminate looking men I can't understand why they'd even nervously bite their fingers on this issue. They will still have a strong base regardless and besides this world has so much oddity to it what's the harm and letting the fellas wear female wear? I don't believe there is a valid reason, just excuses and straw grasping "but but but reasons!!!!" but that's just my opinion.

personaly i am not a big fan of Kuja's armour i think it makes him look like a stipper (since he is meant to be taken seriously (yes i even say kefka looks dumb but i think that was the point to his design to throw you off him.)) and with lightning in soldier there were female soldiers the uniform is unisexed as for the cloud and hildebrand thats where i say they should allow men to wear the dress, i mean they have already put it in the game showing it is possible so they might as well go full fisted with it,This is Okay:

personaly the new i think only looks good with a slender and feminine frame but dosnt look good on the example elezen but thats probably my own bias against elezen since i don't like the looks of the race.
Let the guys wear it, as i have said before we have bikini's and outfits that can be dyed to look like assless chaps. so whats a dress on a dude gonna do, hell my male miqote character i'd put him in a dress for rp since it seems like something he would do thinking he's being stealthy. but for those who enjoy cross dressing (both female in male clothing and male in female clothing) they can have a wide virally of glamour options.
Sometimes you just got to have Some fun
Not sure if the Japanese culture would accept men being able to wear female dresses. Most changes in ff 14 is based off the feedback from homeland players over us.
