See I dunno though, I wish more people were going "Make them both unisex" route instead of just accepting the gender lock. It makes me really worried that SE will introduce some really cool male only uniquely themed set with no girl equivalent to "equalize" the amount of locked sets, and we won't ever see some beautiful and feminine sets on guys like Nozomi's rendition of the Thanavarian set.

But that's really it, when they have honestly male locked and female locked gear, the outrage is minimal, why? Because "at least I have something they don't have so it's not so bad."

Now a Lot of the male only gear would rock on my tomboy highlander. She wears summer morning halter and ladies knickers (black) as her "swimwear" because it looks like a workout set and looks good on her... But the male sets with their leg wraps and shorts would be awesome, and she'd much prefer a lord's yukata over a lady's.

Now for the existing disparaging sets, the ONLY viable solution without creating demand from girls WILL be making the spring set, bunny set and Thavnairian set unisex. I'd love everything to be but hey its not really that likely.

Go girl, that way you'll have something you couldn't have before". Having the whole "At least I've got something they don't, so I'm fine" mentality causes those people playing girl PC to see that as the "solution". It's a whole "The problem is you don't have exclusive stuff, go girl and you'll have exclusive stuff". Let's be honest, they're not wrong, if you went girl, "I have something they don't have, so it's not so bad" is a reasonable conclusion to come to and it's likely why they don't show support for it. Until that mentality changes, we're going to continue seeing that sorta deal, and this problem will extend to whenever girls want the guys set and guys want the girls set.

The fact of the matter is having gender locked gear limits player expression for arbitrary reasons and it'll lead into the path of girls only getting cute, sexy, and revealing sets while guys get cool looking sets. For a game with a really good track record of staying away from that (excluding the NIN and DRG AF's..) I would hope they realize they should do the same for glamour sets as well. I mean, you've literally got nothing if you want a cool looking Yukata because the lord's set is guy only, and that's not fair (Neither is the inverse of guys being locked from cute looking gear fair either, just to clarify). Players realize this already to a degree, it's why we get such a huge outcry whenever girl PCs see a cool looking set and think it's locked to guys only. We need to, as a community, realize and accept that some guy PCs will want feminine clothing for their characters and some girl PCs will want masculine clothing for their characters, and by advocating for gender locked outfits we do the same thing as those players with girl PCs, going "If you want x on y, change to be z and deal with it." to them.

I mean, is it not likely? We know SE will make feminine sets for guys. We also know they're not above putting a guy in a dress (Albeit for a comedic reason which is... Ugh). So they're definitely not morally opposed to it (At least that's what their actions and words indicate). I think it's quite possible, SE just needs to not be so lazy, and the best way to encourage them not to that (Sans like, dropping your sub, but that kinda defeats the purpose of forums/discussion.. And way to many players have this whole "lol don't let the door hit you on the way out" mentality, which is a good thing imho) is letting them know we want change and tell them the reasons why it makes sense on the forums.

Holy crap a LOT of people in this thread ignorant of the worlds various gender roles.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hijra_(South_Asia) <- this stuff dates back to ANCIENT times, it's NOT new by any stretch of the imagination.

The big deal, to me anyway, is that it's ok to let the gals go on looking sexy-sultana, but the guy's can't be a sexy sultan? Just because it's not -your- bag doesn't mean it's not someone else's.
It'd have been a different story if the guys had an exclusive sexy outfit, but they don't, and never have (save a few bikinis). Bunny outfit had no guy equivalent, the spring skirt (until people pitched a fit), all the other spring items, bride's maid dress, and now the thavnarian outfits. All of these outfits that have a "male equivalent" female characters can equip (and look /very/ good in, tyvm). People would have a fit if the girls couldn't wear a tux, so why can't the guys have a fit that they can't wear a dress?

:P And jeez how is "gay" still an insult hahaha. Ohhh nooooes someone who isn't talking to you likes the same gender that they are, better panic an loose your cool because obviously you'll catch the gay. although thats going way off topic.

I agree though, as long as the suggestion are both possible and without any major problematic elements to it, which giving men feminine clothing is both possible and pretty unproblematic imho, then SE ought to do so.

I mean wrt to gay being used as an insult, really it's just kinda the culture we live in, I could go on and on about how plenty slurs that turn into more generalizing insults but still retain their initial meaning, but that's a different subject.

As a future note, Etone, lots of folks edit their posts as it allows them to go over the character limit!

The female scales are so much more white than the males T_T

Let me just say, (super belatedly too; I really barely am around these forums, oops) Thank you so much for all the compliments. *u* I also still totally support this outfit being a thing for guys too. Good gods, SE, please allow this to happen.

(I also totally would love whiter scales to be a thing, and any similarity was totally unintentional but also neat, more incentive for SE to do the thing.)

I suppose it's subjective, but I find it quite ironic that the SMN AF2 is just a "feminine" looking as the Thavnairian set if not more

And yet women wear what society used to be mens only clothing and nobody cares. This gender equality does not seem to work both ways. Your opinion is very selfish.

Women are defined by their clothes?
