While pots and food help, good DPS starts with a good rotation and knowing how to maximize efficient while dealing with encounter mechanics. I'd focus on these two things before worrying about consumables.

I'm far beyond that point. It largely stems from the fact that I haven't been as 100% aware of what I do as I would have been if I had been doing it during progression. I did 550 on t8 savage last night so that's good enough for me I guess.

Honestly most of my static isn't at that level, so I'd call it more than good enough.

T8 savage probably isnt the best guide for DPS tbh, depending on rng i was ranging anywhere from 530 to a little over 600 on that fight, the ballistic missile stun is just to damaging to dps, and its almost as bad when you have to stand in ballistic missiles away from the boss.

Well... you can say that about any encounter. Closest thing to standardization is something like a 2 or 3 minute dummy parse, but even then there's still proc RNG and such. T8 has pretty good DPS uptime though...

Regular T8 =/= T8 Savage. The best turn for evaluating a BLM's dps would probably be turn 11.

Yeah Savage in general isn't kind to BLM, at least in the sense that you can't be as greedy as T1-13 and bunker down to perfect your Deeps. More of, whatever gets the job done, including doing mechanics, which is pretty anti-BLM ... different mindset in there than regular coil.

Maybe with extreme repetition, but there are just some parts where you just have to stop everything and do the mechanic.

Nah T8 Savage is pretty random. Things that can make it rough for BLM, and well anyone trying to have a perfect run of sorts:

    - Very tight tower pushes cause of how many there are and because there are Ballistics while they've spawned. BLM just has to run over, no time for AM greed (not saying it's impossible but you just kinda wanna make sure you don't give the boss a stack).
    - Lots of mines, and if you can do it you do it, you don't send out BRD + SCH to do it with minimal loss.
    - Frozen for Ballistics is as bad as Wild Charge in T10.

T8 is godly for BLM because it's formulaic and you can designate everyone to certain roles every time. T8 Savage, it's still great but as someone mentioned it can be very, very high variance.

You're doing fine. I know its natural but try not to compare yourself to other Black Mages and start asking what you're doing wrong, because it really sucks.

I play MNK and in i130(stats below) and Zeta I barely scratched 500 in T10 pre-echo. I begin asking what I'm doing wrong and why I don't hit 600 like some Monks. But at the end of the day I know I've played Monk for a very long time and I do my job with my raid and friends.

I know it isn't kind at all, sometimes I'm 470 because fuck you, you get every ballistic, but dealing with movement and learning what I was actually doing wrong (because it's pretty obvious in that fight) brought my dps up in t13. I died in t13 to divebombs cause I wasn't paying attention and left add phase at like 450 dps and brought it back up to 530 so it's something. Also Sleigh, you did savage with two people from the old guild I founded with Brother Belandrus. ^^

Oh I see... I really need to convince my group to try savage some time, everything I keep hearing about it sounds fun XD
