Square Enix and Steam region issue!

My friend that lives in New Zealand purchased Final Fantasy for me through Steam, I live in America and so when registering I had to set my region to Europe and other Regions because I had to enter a code that was region specific. So basically the account had to match the region in which the code (game) was purchased.

This wasn't a big deal for me, as long as I got to play the game but then I had realized that I am going to be paying my monthly subscription through steam and well, when I checked to see if I could, I couldn't. Because the steam account region must match the Square Enix account, and naturally it doesn't, this also makes it impossible for me to purchase additional items from the shop, etc, etc.

Does anyone have any idea what I should do? Will Square Enix change my region for me?

It's not very clear from your post what region your SE account is registered?

1. You have an EU copy of the game.
2. You have an EU steam account.
3. You have an NA SE account. (???)
4. You live in NA.

What you probably need to do is buy a new copy of the game from the NA region. I don't think SE will give you a new copy of the game. If you have an EU sqex account you'll have to contact customer service and beg them to change the region for you.

Unfortuantely they won't change your region (at least I've never heard of them doing it). Is it possible to get your friend to buy/gift you the HW expansion and you work out payment with them?

Sadly I think that (or someone else gifting it) might be your only workaround. Steam shouldn't have given you the EU version in the first place, but it's too late now

They can change the region of the account. "If SQUARE ENIX determines that you have intentionally provided improper information to SQUARE ENIX such that you are registered in the wrong Region, SQUARE ENIX reserves the right to either (a) transfer your account to the proper Region, subject to the rules, agreements and fees for that Region, or (b) terminate your account, without recourse." - Software License Agreement.

Don't know why since, like you said, it's in their T&C.
