    Well, no, I don't think it's normal. I thought that it was obvious its not. I mean, all you said "normal" was restrictive and I pointed out it didn't always have to be "normal".

    We don't do that. All I said was you could, and implied it could work for some number of dungeons.

    huh? I didn't know that those resistances and vulnerabilities were anything more than a hold over from version 1.X? I mean I see very little gear in this game that even has resistances of that sort stacked on it to begin with, and almost none of it is end game gear.

    I think he means more in terms of Disembowel then aiding DRG, BRD and then MCNs as well, with monks being left out of the resistance debuff game completely since WARs take care of slashing. Monks and casters' auto-attacks are still the only blunt-type damage we can dish out that I know of.

    EDIT: What is the official job abbreviation for machinists anyway? I've seen MCN, MCH and MAC. xD

    Technically, rods, staves and books are all blunt damage

    But that aside, MCN being blunt damage would not make much sense. I mean, sure, they could have a gun that fires blunt rounds, but, why? Blunt rounds for the most part cover the area of "non lethal" ammunition, and I certainly don't see us fighting dragons with bean bag launchers. But strictly from a lore perspective, as I already stated, the main theme of HW, and the enemy we will be fighting are dragons. Creatures with hard armored scales covering their bodies. I cannot see the machinists of Ishgard thinking that going against these creatures with potato guns as the get to victory.

    That's what I meant - casters' auto-attacks.

    And agreed on that one. They'll be shooting to kill, literally. Seems we also get lasers to play with, judging by that video though.

    To be clear, I never really expected machinist to do blunt damage... I just think there should at least some day be another class that can benefit from dragon kick considering now we will have two that benefit from disembowel and storm's eye/dancing edge respectively. And yes, I know caster melee benefits from dk but... come onnnn.

    Oh, I'm pretty sure the next job will be a caster. It's now the only role that hasn't had any reinforcements since launch. Wonder which one they'll go for. Given Ishgard's geographical proximity with Sharlayan, maybe we'll get something awesome from there.
