I was looking at the PS4 version last night on the store and I remember one of the tags saying that the download size was a little over 13GB

It really would be nice to know when we'll be able to download the expansion content. The OP is not the only one stuck with a slow net connection, and a 13 GB download is literally several days of non-stop download for me.

Like I said in the PSA, the 1.7gb files refers pretty much to the client itself, if you read a bit below it you can tell the game itself will be something from 10 to 50gb which we still don't know (PS4 not sure about PC). And like a few said here, I'm sure we'll have to download the 1.7gb client but in-client might ask us to download an even bigger file like we were downloading a patch.

We will all download at same time when they patch it in.

...and that will be the reason there servers will crash at patch day! >_<

Im prepared with a new game. Im pretty sure 1st week(s(?)) of heavensward will be near unplayable because everyone want to go there.

It's likely that there will be a 3.0 patch before the expansion, including all the expansion datas.

You will most likely be able to download the new client a few days or a few hours before early access (around ~1.6GB)

But when servers go up after the expansion is released (early access) there are sure gonna be patches that you will have to download before you can play. They might be small, or they might not...

The HW patch will be around 10-15gb, not 1.6gb.

While it would be nice Im assuming you cant preload an mmo that is live. It wont be available for download until the servers go down on the 18th. Probably only like 12 hours before early access begins.

Yes you can preload.

At this point all the art assets and models must be finished and checked off, NOT going to change. All that data could be made available today for download in the background while playing, or while you're asleep tonight. WoW has been doing this for years, it is just a matter of having the data available despite nothing on the servers ever requesting the data to be shown.
