Can we please do something about botting?

So I've recently just started the game, completely fresh new player. I've been playing MMO's for 15 years and I know perfectly well what a bot is, how they work and what they look like.

I've just turned 40 and the amount of bots i'm seeing is pretty crazy. The last time i've seen this many was back at ESO's launch.

Just today in the space of 30mins, I've reported 6 bots in Coerthas (SP?), be them FATE bot runners, getting stuck on a rock or running into walls trying to correct themselves or the tradeskill botters who are following a nice short loop and doing the "jump" every 8-10 secs.

I think is pretty out of control and the issue is being swept under the carpet and ignored.

*coughs* So I'm getting reported every time I auto run to another boring FATE for the 500th time that day while talking to my four year old? I've looked back at my laptop to see my running face first into a rock about ten feet from where I hit numlock from. I've often been caught inside Dragonhead auto-running into a corner because I'm not paying attention, or happen to be playing Destiny while waiting for something specific to pop and just happen to be running.

    We're not all bots y'know.

No don't be silly. I'm not reporting people like that, its the people who are face planting a wall for 5 mins, making minor adjustments to their movement to try and avoid the object. Trust me, botting is bloody obvious to spot.

That's correct. Also, to prevent further confusion, Coerthas is pronounced the French way - so "Currthas".

Botting is a serious problem, and it's been a serious problem since launch. You'd be surprised to know it was a lot worse way back when. SE has been putting in work to get rid of the bots/RMT, but obviously not enough to clean out the problem fully. Things may change with 3.0, though that's tbd. Report them when you see them and they should get banned in the near future.

These where all posted with in the last week.

I've ran two gatherers almost 24/7 for a couple of months now without problems, might have been bad luck.
Yeah I try to stick with xxxxx Shard profile @2000/shard to avoid staying in one area too long.
At first I was farming electrum, then I switched to the full shard mining rotation by xxxxxx, then I edited it to only mine the shards that I needed and would switch ores manually after reaching 9990.

    Continuation of above:

SE has said on occasion that botting is not the worst thing that could happen, and that you shouldn't tell anyone about it if you are
XXXXX is in a spot right now where most of it's activities go unnoticed, while there's more noticeable bots out there. From my own personal experience, I can attest that XXXXX is quite safe because of this. People rarely have contact with the bot doing something obviously bottish
Getting banned in FFXIV using XXXX is a very rare occurrence. I've got 2 dedicated "gathering bots" that I run 24/7 and have never gotten even a warning. They seem to have no means of detection other than someone watching you do something very bottish.
Let me add, you can get reported multiple times and still have no ban. The rule of thumb is don't do anything overly hacky (read: teleporting) and you'll be safe.

    Last one:

IMO if you don't do PVP and you don't teleport you are pretty safe botting in FFXIV. So far I haven't seen many bans coming from people that just use their bot to fate grind or gather grind (unless they teleport).
I run 3 individual bots almost 24/7 aswell and I have never been bothered reported, I record all my whispers from other players in Logs and I've never gotten anything other than Gold Spammers whisper my bots.
Just having a full level Botanist, Miner, Fisher working at the same time and Desynthesizing Forager gear for Demicraft Materia is probably the FASTEST way to make money
So as you can see, botting is rampant and pretty much open season.

The team assigned to dealing with bots is just 3 people. It's safe to say that bots/rmters aren't taken seriously from the square enix team and just do basic stuff that most other bad mmos or f2p mmos do and just do occasional ban sweeps.

Pretty much like when Aion was still p2p and NCsoft took people from Aion team and put them on Lineage 2 for their new expansion (f2p) and barely did anything about bots/rmt in Aion. They just did occasional ban sweeps and didn't really do anything when users reported them. They didn't respond to reports of botting just like this game.

What i'm saying is... No matter how much the playerbase complains, they ain't gonna get serious about botting/rmt

Edit: Which is funny cause the only ones square enix gets serious about is the players that purchase gil... not the people selling it.

Again I think this is why they really need to stick with untradable currency for pretty much everything. MGP was a great idea, tomestones are a great idea, using scrips to get crafting/gathering gear is a great idea.

Using gil to buy houses and furniture, not a great idea. Allowing crafters to make raid-tier gear is a terrible idea. Anything that requires gil in this game instantly encourages RMT, botting, and cheating.
