    When can we expect the ability to purchase/hire more retainers?

    Let's just say my kleptomaniac traits don't carry too well with loot in this game, and let's just say that both my retainers are full of stuff I wouldn't rather sell/throw away (mainly lots of Unique/Untradable Gear and +3 items).

    Could we have a word when we'll be able to toss in that extra dollar for a retainer?

    A great idea (that I though of) would be that only 2 retainers can be active in the wards at a time, while the other extra ones can't, just so it wouldn't strain the servers too much, if that's an issue.

    Or just let us buy extra retainers even though the game isn't pay2play yet...

    Yes please. Not even needed for selling, just another retainer so I can separate and sort my crafting materials by class. Ie: have all my logs and planks on one and all my fabrics and dyes on another... Don't even need to be able to set the extras up in the market, would be fine. Or alternatively, double the inventory space.

    Think the word you're looking for is "disposophobia" not kleptomaniac, but yea, I feel the same, I never know if I'll later need an item and run out of space to store everything.

    I am running out of space, and I am surprise SE isn't selling retainers. Given that we're playing for free, even a bucks trickling in every month would help, I'm sure.

    Honestly, though, I still would like to see special item storage. I know a dev team member replied to a similar thread and said it was being planned--namely for special event items--but we need NPC storage for all untradeable items, especially because there's a ton of stuff that drops in instances or off of NMs that would be difficult/annoying to replace.

    For me this is the same problem as not having a proper auction house to SELL items. The problem is I have too many items that may or may not be valuable and not enough time and space to properly sort them out.

    If we're not going to get a viable auction house to sell items than we need the ability to store more items until we have an intuitive knowledge of the ingame economy to know what to keep, what to vendor and what to sell in the market wards. (I keep making the distinction of an AH to SELL items because while the market wards are the worst idea ever, they still aren't so cumbersome to buy something that I just say forget it. They are however way to cumbersome to try and sell anything and especially if you're trying to sell more than 1 item. It's better to just vendor stuff and get back to playing.)

    With a viable AH, we could take the items we just gathered and within a few minutes know what their values are. We can then decide to vendor them or sell them right there on the AH. Without the AH, we need to research the item on a 3rd party website to see what it's used for and if the item you can make out of it is something that someone would buy. We then need to see what the demand is for these items and if our item is rare enough to try and sell in the market ward or so common that it's a better use of time to just vendor it. We then need to spend so much time looking up the price of each item we want to sell in the market ward, write it down so we don't forget, then pick a ward to set up our retainer and list the items for sale. Taking into account how long that takes plus how long everything takes in FFXIV, it's just not a good use of time. (This is another concern. Everything takes way too long in FFXIV. Stuff that should be instant, takes 3 seconds. Stuff that should take a few seconds takes a minute and a half with 3 or 4 unnecessary "confirm" menus. But UI problems is another issue.)

    If we could buy more storage than we could just keep everything until either we use the item in crafting or we have the game experience for an intuitive knowledge of it's value so we can then sell it in the market wards, vendor it or else hold onto it for a later date.

    You also have to realize that each item takes 4 times as much space to store because their's a NQ, +1, +2 and +3 versions.

    We need a good AH. We need more storage. The crafting sytem is awesome. It's great how many items from different professions and skill levels you need to make stuff. The interdependance of so many different things as well as the skill involved to make items are a huge selling point to this game and add depth. We just need all the good stuff about FFXIV to be supported to make the teedious stuff not so overwelming.

    Not for a while did you read the post Yoshi-P said about the HDD that save our char info? it seem they need to update that to even allow us to have more retainers so we wont have anything to give us more room too then.

    The storage excuse doesn't hold water. Retainer NPCs have less than 200 variables - 100 item slots, 10 bazaar slots, name, race, sex, equipment, currency, etc. Each of those variables is merely a few lines of code referencing an object stored on the game servers, meaning the file size for a single retainer is miniscule by today's storage standards - thousands of retainers would fit on a thumb drive. As for why they haven't implemented the system yet.... who knows?! I had 32 FFXI characters to store all of my crap at a cost of more than fifty bucks a month (had to have two accounts to have that many characters), so it isn't that the community isn't willing to pay for it!

    Ya and X that amount of of players let's say they allow 2 more NPC that you can buy

    Each item in the Game is not low detail they take up some amount of room that a lot of item which can take a lot of room from the HDD. Top of that we know they working on with cheap servers/systems "Maybe not even storage standards" by the look of things so the HDD room can hold water if they using low amount of TB HDD.

    They even had to call the people who build the The servers to hold our Char to repair it due to rerolls issue a month or so back. So i can see how this could be a issue too they upgrade there dam servers.
