Is my Character's IQ Dangerously Low? (Hildebrand Spoilers)

So I noticed while running through the Hildebrand quest line (for a second time) that our characters, while incredibly powerful fighters, seem to have brains the size of Hildi's. This is, of course, a horrible insult.

How did our characters not notice that Gilgamesh was the thief being described? Am I to believe that my character is slow in the head? BLASPHEMY.

I always assumed my character was going with the flow and took it as a vacation.

I'm pretty sure it's all just for comedic effect
Why ruin a good gag with logic.

Leave your logic at the door and strap yourself in for the ride. Nothing in the Hildebrand quests makes sense, and it all gets crazier with every quest completed. I will say that the ending was quite unexpected though, and there were more than a few moments that had me genuinely laughing along.

It's a great bit of fun to play through, just try not to read too much into it

It's not your IQ rating but your Gentlemanilness rating that's low

Because making a character suddenly look stupid for the sake of a once in a while gag is pretty bad. I've seen anime that did crap like that; main character was relatively intelligent, had a good head on his shoulders but would somehow manage to fall for obvious traps or suddenly have zero common sense for the sake of a bad joke. It certainly diminishes a character's integrity. You CAN make comedy work and not have our characters be complete bricks.

That said, you could play it out like they're just going with the flow and acting the part. Obviously not having a character that speaks leaves a lot open for interpretation.

I dunno, if you ask the Elezen detective in Hildebrand or the reporter lady, they actually both comment on your character actually being intelligent as opposed to Hildebrand. I always took it as the PC just going "I'm going to let this happen for once." in a very passive sense as opposed to our busy body normal selves.

The player character is there to just tag along and be the help when the need arises. We are usually never asked our opinion on something, nor for any answers. Just the passive quiet person who tags along because they're wanted.

It's not that out characters are stupid, but their interest was more along the lines of "these people are professionals in their line of work, I'll let them do their jobs and intervene only when the need arises. They're fun to be around" After all, we're adventurers skilled in the art of mass murder of monsters, garleans, beastmen and people who worship a primal god, and bandits/poachers; as well as anyone who decides to stand in our way when we aren't possibly crafting or harvesting/mining/fishing stuff.

Also we're the Manderville's oiling lackeys ;D (Godbert in main story iirc, and Hildy while searching for the sword).

My character barely pays attention to anything people say. She just stoaicly nods when people look at her expecting her to say something because she was thinking about something else.

TBH, there appears to be several times during the quest where your character has suspicions, but just goes with the flow for sure. At least I recall my character squinting quite a few times in disbelief after hearing the thief's description and seeing Gilgamesh splashing around in the water w/ Enkidu.
