    PC users and macros.

So... this has been bothering me. I've noticed that in many of the patches there are more and more and more and more macro commands entered. And while there are some specific situations where using a macro would be beneficial... I don't think I should have to create a macro for the majority of basic functionality.

    Targetting? Use a macro!
Action bars that don't remember your abilities on job change? Use a macro! (Yes, I heard this is being fixed in 1.19, but still, it's been like this in release for a year.)

I understand that PS3 users will likely need these.... but I'm not playing on a PS3 and there is no PS3 release yet. I play on a PC and I want a UI that supports a playstyle that is native to that hardware. Not this half-baked console port, bs.

God damnit Hexa, Action bars will be fixed! Read the letters for the love of God! /jk
    hrm. Heya!

Try to understand that they're planning the PS3 release, so it's going to release, and in order to appeal both PC and PS3 users they're going to implement the same things so the PC user can't have better things than the PS3 user and viceversa.

Still, uh... About the macros, what would you like?

...but I don't want t be handicapped because other people are too lazy/poor/whatever to have a computer. I don't pay for gimped functionality.... Well, I guess maybe in this case, I did. But it's not what I want to do.

So you're saying that you don't want to be handicapped because of the PS3.
In fact, you don't get any handicap because you'll be at the same level as anyone who plays the game =)

What do you mean by handicap? What is frustrating you about the system?

I don't want to have to script acres of macros for basic functionality. I want a PC-native environment that is not driven by macros or endless menus.

    Gotcha!
What is this Basic Functionality actually? It's pretty much everything out there, you just have to use it the proper way.

Ah! Maybe I got something to help that Endless Menu thing: Configuration -> Keyboard
There you can set shortcuts for menus like Inventory, Gear, Actions & Traits,... It's pretty convenient, you should try it!

I think you're talking about text commands, not macros. You can put text commands into macros but you don't have to. For things like targeting changes, you can just enter those once and you're good to go. These aren't things you have to do constantly. Displaying helmets and main tools aren't things you need to constantly toggle. A lot of these commands toggle things, you don't need to be using them so often that you must write macros for them.

Honestly I haven't needed to use a macro in months now.

Or use the configuration menu if you don't want to type a text command in your chat
