So Machinist inspiration from Anime?

So while reading the digest of interviews posted about Machinist I suddenly made a mental connection. Mention of single bullet loading, use of bullets with magical charges sounded familiar. Now everyone I see say they're going Machinist I ask so you're going Gene Starwind on us? Is it just me or does SE's model of the gun seem to be awful close to a Caster from Outlaw Star and if so will bullets be numbered from 1-15 with 9 - 15 being strong enough to seriously weaken or injure the machinist in exchange for more powerful than usual results? It's a good idea and I'm sure it would and will be fun I'm just curious if i'm right. It sounds to me like SE took inspiration for Machinist from Outlaw star.

It could be possible, if I remember correctly Yoshi-P name dropped the berserk series when he was talking about Dark knight in an older interview. There could be small anime/manga references in the classes we have besides final fantasy references in the new classes as well.

Ever read Dai no Daibouken? It's a manga based on Dragon Quest, that's way older and has magic bullet like you described.

The Dark Knight influence from Guts of Beserk is pretty cool though and that is really only the fighting stance.

Given some of the earlier concept sketches with Astro's (cant spell the whole thing) card deck. It looked to much like the arm gear used in Yugioh. Now it has a slight magical girl look to it and a globe that makes a lot more sense. As what someone said earlier about the style the devs. wanted Dark to look like. I wouldn't be surprised so long as its fun to play. For me it looks a little Steam Punk/Outlaw Star/Trigun-ish (if there's sunglasses and a trench that can be dyed red and glammed).
