I have to agree with Justartificial. In ARR you get a quest to talk to Rowena then are directed to Gerolt. This idea is likely where the 'boost' comes in.

At the end of Zeta, Gerolt finds something. For Heavensward, he's found it and he and Jertzol or whatever have had time to look over it while you have participated in the Dragonsong War. All you need is one Zeta, so in this scenario yes, your BRD Zeta will affect DRKs 60 Relic. Players that have not completed the Zeta step will be given a quest to aquire the item Gerolt found for Zeta. Most likely from a dungeon. Best case this will happen in the mid 50s. There may also be some 'go ask this guy' at 60, that players who finished Zeta won't need to do.

The former, while horribly underplayed, is probably the hard truth.

Square Enix have been continuously making the game better for new people to get into. What the Zeta gives in 3.X, probably will not be something exclusive or game-changing. If it was, there would have been more information for it by now.
I am pretty sure by now, if there was some grand huge benefit to completing a 2.0 relic weapon, they would have said so by now. Especially since doing so wouldn't drive away new players, because they wouldn't be losing anything to begin with, and current players would be more hooked, as well as some retired players might return. So yeah, the "benefit" is likely insignificant, possibly glamour material, or maybe an option to choose the skin of the weapon. They really couldn't give an entirely unique unfair advantage to people that already put in the work, because then those that are new would have significantly more pressure to have to go back and do so much old grind content before being able to actually play the new stuff.

Skipping a few steps for the new relics is not a "huge benefit", but it's still some time saved

When I say huge benefit, I mean something really big. One thing that many people have hoped for is that the stats on the new relics would be able to be customized based on the stats of your current relic. That would be a massive benefit that would make new players feel forced to go back and grind the old content to gain that advantage in the new content too. Ultimately, something like that causes many new players to feel discouraged.

That would be cool, and frankly, not that huge too. Lots of calculation have been made to prove that a "perfect" Zeta is not really far from a Dreadwyrm or even an Enhanced Poetic.

The only way to make it a huge benefit is to give it extra Weapon damage and associated main stats with w/e the players job is or a special ability, which they already said they would never do for fear of it becoming a "necessary" thing.

Don't give too much credit to the Zeta Bonus for the new relic. You remember how the old relics started? We had to find a weapon at a beasttribe camp and kill maybe 20 mobs for it to awake.

In heavensward it's probably gonna be some super non relevant bonus like: "We need a weapon as a starting point. You have to find an old weapon in a chest at the beasttribe cam....oh wait! The weapon you are wielding could work too!"

I wouldn't be surprised if the bonus was just a title and allowed you to bypass one stage of the upgrade process.

From a design point of view, it doesn't make sense to require people to grind level 50 content once the level cap has been raised to 60.

I am willing to bet that the new jobs will get 2.0 relics, but there will be no incentive to grind a Zeta (other than glamour) once the 3.0 relics are released.

They are not getting Zodiac weapons.

There will be Primals weapons added to trials for the jobs though,

The new relic in 3.0 will be easier to obtain, in 3.1 it will get it's first power-up (Zenith) stage.

The only incentives for Zeta items are already in place, Glamour and Achievement.

They haven't said anything more about how/if Zeta will provide a boost to the new Relic progression except:

Q: If you focus on some new growth in Patch 3.1, will all of the hard work done on Zodiac Weapons be wasted?

A: It won't be a complete waste, it will of course be taken into account. We are actively working on this to make sure it happens.

As far as we know, owning a zodiac zeta will only allow you to buy any 2.0 relic step from gerolt for glamour purpose
