Main Character is not from the Setting, but is a member of Bad Guys. Bad Guys come and try to take over/destroy Setting. Main Character rebels against Bad Guys, even though he is Bad Guys.
The reasons are superficial, just as the villain's motivations are superficial. Lelouch, Zidane, and Goku are very different characters, but the broad strokes of their conflict is the same. They do not like Bad Guys for Reasons. They want Bad Guys to no longer be around for Reasons. But they might feel bad about it because they are Bad Guys just like the Bad Guys are.

Yes I would have, because 99% of the time people skip the cutscenes and could care less about the lore of a dungeon they just want to run it for the tomes or drops. The Main scenario is mediocre at best anyways its nothing compared tot he stories of FF7, FF9, or FF10.

This is part of the problem with the community. Everyone is in such a rush, and players new to content are either forced to skip the story or get locked out of the boss room. The first time I played Castrum Meridianum, I didn't even get to experience any of the boss fights but one because everyone kept pushing ahead instead of waiting for those of us who actually care about the story. The only reason I got into that boss fight was because a healer had accidentally fallen out of the map and it took several minutes before they could maneuver in a way that they could use the return spell. The same thing happened again last night when I ran the final fight of the Hildibrand storyline. Three of us were still in the cutscenes when someone pulled, and because I was standing slightly back further from the entrance, the barrier went up right before I could get in, even though I had skipped the rest of the scene before to rush forward.....

I get that some people have time limits to play, but if that's so then say you need to hurry, or just don't go into the DF for content if you don't have time to play it. Some people actually care about experiencing the story and hate having to be rushed at every turn because there's always that one guy who has no patience......

This game is heavily story driven to start with so lol.
I pick and skim a lot of texts myself but there ARE people here that enjoy the games storyline.
Just because you don't doesn't mean let's kick it to the side.

I think you need to look at your statistics a little better before you jump to conclusions about who skips what content.
Remember folks just because YOU don't enjoy it doesn't mean 99% of people don't enjoy it.
There wouldn't be a check box in PF for "Story focused, no cutscene skipping" if only 1% of players paid attention to them.

I would say its more like 99.9% of the time folks have seen the cutscene atleast once, and are skipping it because of this.

Ugh...this story is better, this story is worse. Stop it. Everyone has their own opinions, for example, my opinion is the best stories are FF4,FF6,FF8,FF9,FF13 and FFXIV:ARR. The stories are what make the Instances good, you know the background, you know why you are there, just entering say...Dragons neck or WoD without the backstory would be...plain, blank, and dismally uninteresting, Stories and backgrounds are what make these things interesting. If i just wanted to play a game with hardley any story and just farm for better equipment, i'll just stick with Monster Hunter.

Skipping the ff9-DBZ debate, I doubt it is true that most people skip the cutscenes.

I DO AGREE that ffxiv dialogues are unnecessarily convoluted, though.

Just because you don't care, find it a bother, therefore assuming 99% of people skip and don't care about the story, doesn't mean that every quest should be removed to unlock content. That is beyond idiotic. Please get over yourself. There are many that are lore lovers. That's like me saying I love lore (which I do) therefore there should be a quest to unlock character creation. WHO IS CREATING MY CHARACTER! Am I god? Just no.

I wasn't saying the quests be removed they should simply be optional instead of mandatory to unlock everything in the game. That way people like you who enjoy the lore can and people like me can just skip that and go right to the fights. Apparently the ones who don't care about the lore should go to another game as said by you lore lovers. This sounds very whats the word I'm looking for arseholey? to me. I'm not trying to be that way so why are you guys? Just make all these quest gates optional so lore lovers can happy and so that the rest of us can get to next fight already. Okay so 99% don't skip the cs I may have exaggerated a bit but I'd still say its at least 50/50.

Sorry, but people that aren't interested in the lore simply need to accept that in a story-centric game, encounters and dungeons are gated behind the main story quest and/or side quests and that's probably not going to change anytime soon. Just because you're uninterested in the lore doesn't suddenly give you an easy button to bypass all of the quests and other miscellany that everyone has to do. It'd be like letting you do T13 before you've even unlocked the first Coil. It makes no sense whatsoever for you to be able to just waltz into Bahamut's heart and die horribly to the first Megaflare fight his "final form" without having even known about the existence of the first fragment in Castrum Occidens.

Are fetch quests boring? Sure. But we all have to do them so get over yourself. :3
