I have a house in the first ward of lavender beds on my server. 100% of my neighbors are currently inactive (or do not use their house what so ever. I don't know where the 20 number is coming from but it's wayyyyyyy off in this case.

And it's hardly a utopian idea. IRL when you go "inactive" and don't pay your taxes and mortgage for months guess what happens to your house?

This isn't real life. This is a video game. It's pretty crappy to take something away from a player in a video game just because they haven't logged in for a while, especially when they invested so much money in the first place.

SE needs to actually fix the fundamental design flaw in their housing, rather than punish players for SE's own mistakes.

You're living in a fantasy world if you think they're going to scrap everything they've done currently. It's just not going to happen. They'll keep moving forward occasionally adding wards and doing evictions (decay timers most likely). I have both an FC house and a personal house and I personally welcome this change; I don't see it as a punishment at all. What gives inactive players more rights to a limited server resource than active players? The short answer... nothing. There are far to many abandoned houses just sitting in the wards and it makes 0 sense for them to not allow current players to take advantage of those inactive plots from a business perspective.

They are going to be implementing house sharing which, I think, will help a great deal. Players who don't own property will still be able to take advantage of property perks. I plan to put a notice on my placard that says that I'm willing to share the garden etc. of my personal house if someone needs it when it's implemented.
