Isn't that how it works right now? What do you mean by "PvP Rank is attached to job"? Your character has your PvP rank and that doesn't really have anything to do with your job. If you have a job at level 30 and are doing level 30 Wolves' Den, you will be matched based on your PvP rank despite having a level 30 job.
And as far as action points, they should do something about that so we don't have to swap every time. :/

This would change my life
Yeah agreed on both, it's a pain having to respec my ability points super fact when I change classes at the beginning of an instance when we started with < 8 people and either 0 or 1 healer on team, and so I've gone BLM -> SCH, respent my AP points, and then 5 seconds later one or two healers come through via join on progres and I don't have time to switch back so we have too many.
The game remembers what bonus attributes are for each class, so there's no reason this can't be tracked separately for each job as well.
And the issue of PVP rank being tied to GC just compounds the adverse impact of the GC restriction (and I consider anything that results in my time being unnecessary wasted as a problem; most of us do and that's why we're really pissed off about it). The more invested most people are in their PVP rank, the less likely they are to swap GC's. If it weren't for that, some people who are in GC's that get bad queues would swap to the ones that get better ones, and this would improve not only the wait times but also reduce the polarization in experience and skill that prevents good players in underdog GC's from having a fair shot at winning... it's like someone purposefully designing this to be constraining and frustrating in every aspect possible- an underdog GC that's losing a lot more than it's winning needs better players in its ranks to level the playing field, and so of course here we have a system that discourages those players from moving most of all. And WHY does PVP rank even need to be grinded for each GC separately when we already have seperate Achievements people can earn under each GC related to number of battles won, player kills, etc. If we already have all these other achievements that can be earned under each GC for people who want to do it, what's the rationale for making someone go through the slow ranking up process more than once.
+1 on both, althought they probably won't change the grand company thing cause there are achievements attached to it. But setting PvP abilities every time I change is a huge chore, the points should just be tied to the job.
Ah, the GC thing is probably cause of the achievements and will likely never be changed. Though they could make it so we can PvP with any other GC and have queues be nice and dandy.
Something I was thinking about though... is there actually an achievement for 'Get to rank 45 for (free company name)'? I don't think there is. We have a lot of achievements related to PVP but as far as I can tell, letting PVP rank be the same regardless of GC wouldn't interfere with the achievements in any way. If I moved GC and my rank was still 45, I would still have to get hundreds of wins under that new GC to get the related achievement.
I think they only have them for 1/10/20/30/40, and I assume they are going to be adding a new one along with a title for 50 if that is the new cap. 45 and 110 gear were basically made so there'd be something to work towards before Slaughter and now we have to play the waiting game again till 3.0. (or 3.1/that PvP patch that is coming alongside Alexander and Esoteric tomes)
He meant, "not to GC" *
But yes, I 1000% agree, this' a necessity.
