I don't think FFXIV would do that nor can I think of any MMOs that actually have, however one thing that most MMOs do in this situation is make quest experience scalable. WoW did this in the Cataclysm expansion, as well as restructured the quest zones to create a streamlined leveling path.

As someone with all classes at 50, I recommend that you avoid that you avoid things the feel like a boring grind. If EVERYTHING feels like a boring grind, pick whatever feels least grindy, even if it means it will take you longer to level the class.

In my case, I leveled several of my classes (ARC, ROG, THM) pretty much exclusively using Low Roulette and Guildhest Roulette. I'd do each of these once per day. If there happened to be a level appropriate FATE around, I might take part, and I did fill out my Hunting Log, but for the most part I got by using the Roulette bonuses, which are pretty substantial!

Did I get a job leveled quickly? No. Each job took a couple months to complete in this fashion. But I didn't feel bored or frustrated either. Roulettes every day, different dungeons and guildhests every day, no FATEs unless one was handy and I felt like it.

It's unreasonable to expect SE to provide enough quests to give exp for all twenty classes, but they have provided plenty of tools to ease the strain of leveling additional classes.

Actually it's pretty common for the previous expansion's exp requirements to be nerfed when a new expansion is released. Almost every MMO does that.

Leveling is pretty fast as is, IMO.
The only thing that sucks (granted, it is a significant problem since dungeons are the main way to level) is DPS queues aren't great.

Don't forget Challenge Log! When I was lvling Ninja I pretty much did fates exclusively until lvl 20ish. After that I did one low level roulette and one guildhest roulette daily. Near the end of the week I'd do an extra 3 guildhest roulettes. With the Challenge Log you get a nice chunk of exp for doing 3 dungeons in roulette and doing 5 dungeons total, for doing 3 and 10 guildhests, and for giving 5 commendations after doing those dungeons and guildhests. Granted this meant my lvling was spread out over a month, which may be too slow for some, but I still had all the lvl 50 stuff to stay on top of as well.

Make sure to do your daily Low Level and Guildhest Roulettes for bonus exp.
Unlock the Challenge Log from Limsa if you haven't already (Quest: Rising to the Challenge) which grants bonus exp for meeting weekly goals.
Beast Tribe daily quests can be done once your class reaches the 40s.

What I do is just play my main or craft while waiting for DF dungeons on my alts. You get a level or two for each dungeon when you are low level. When I get to the 30s, I just fate grind while waiting for DF dungeons and trials.

The hunting log is also something you can do while waiting on dungeons. I've found leveling alts to be pretty easy and gery fast.

FATEs used to give much more experience - This had the issue of no one using dungeons.

So they nerfed the FATE experience and added the Duty Roulette to try and lure more people there, since it was the better form of experience - people still found ways to grind out rapid experience (Aurum Vale and Dzemael Darkhold spring to mind).

It would be interesting to see if they do end up putting a higher percentage of experience in the FATEs now, or reducing experience required to level from 1-50, but the problem would be massive overleveling without the MSQ, wouldn't it? There's a whopping 346 of them already, and most of them can be easily followed along to power your way to 50, save for that little dead zone between 46'ish and 49'ish.

If you do a dungeon that's your level, you get the chain bonus for killing mobs. This practically doubles the xp from the dungeon.
Not to mention the first time completion that you may get (can't remember if it resets by job).
I know the guildhests have a first time completion bonus by job as well, though it's less than the very first character I think.

The challenge log is also a ton of bonus xp, even though it resets weekly.
With the armory bonus (+50% xp), it's not that bad of a grind. I felt so for my second character being accustomed to having more quests but I got over it when I got accustomed to the system.

    - Do a dungeon the same level it unlocks (that's almost a level, if not a level)
    - Do the daily roulette (dungeon and guildhest), that's about a level
    - You can do fates and leves in between, but don't use your leves during the same level as a dungeon unlock (less efficient)

At level 32 on, dungeons unlock every 3 levels. What I said above grants at least 2 of those per day.
That means you just need to grind one extra and repeat.
If you're really power leveling, then you won't be able to repeat the roulette if it hasn't reset yet.
The Challenge Log will give great bonuses during this process. It's best to complete it as late as possible for some since the xp scales really well with level.

I won't be surprised if they nerfed the time it takes to reach 50 for the expansion, but the grind only feels bad if you don't keep objectives in mind.

    It was already mentioned but.

Challenge Log would be your main source of EXP for a secondary job. Specially if your time is very limited.

You can run 2 roulettes on your maxed job, then do 2 random dungeons of your choice (preferably the ones that gives the most tomes) and give out comms on each. Then do one Low Roulette giving a comm at the end of it and you will channel 3 Challenge Log Exp bonuses on a single 2nd job.

This way you can comfortably work on your relic and level a 2nd class casually. Even limiting yourself to do 20 leves a week and 10 FATEs for another bonus.
