EU data center before/with Heavensward, any news?

Hi everyone,

My guild and me started again a few weeks ago, in anticipation of Heavensward. Unfortunately, playing on Shiva, there is still the issue of noticable lag, especially hindering Ninja gameplay, but making some of us feel the game reacts very sluggish compared to what we are used to from other MMOs.

A while ago, there was a lot of talk about EU data centers, I believe in Frankfurt. Is that still on the table, or any details I missed?

While SE hasn't actually revealed where the datacenter is located, they have confirmed it is under construction and are currently purchasing the necessary equipment. It won't be before Heavensward but is planned to start operation this year.

It is easy to assume it would be in Germany. It is the closest country to center of Europe with higher developed servers to reach out a majority of countries than it would if it was located somewhere else. Most (if not all?) european based servers are hosted in Germany.

They have recently announced that they are currently purchasing hardware for the Eu datacenter and that it should be ready to go later this year.

I don't recall them naming the location atm though

When they announced that the europe will have their own server...apparently it's not enough huh? You have to have it now or something... - -


edit: didn't yoshi said something about the server might be available at the end of the year (2015) or something?
