Ya i def agree, "I suck" is definately not an excuse. Almost as bad as saying "I suck at math, but can I have my civil engineering degree anyway?"

OF course we all know what any good teacher would tell you. "Study harder". If only Yoshi had more of a backbone.

Reaction time / lag / brain farts... all of these can EASILY be defeated if you just took 5 mins to look at a rotation list and say ok this is what i need to be ready for.

It's is 100% acceptable that you DO NOT get to experience something you can even put a minute amount of effort into accomplishing. Probably less than .05% of people on this entire form could get together with 7 other people and perform a choreographed dance number (successfully) without at least looking at the moves list first... so why in the hell would you expect to be able to do that in the game?
trust me, some people have reaction times that are that sluggish, or can't afford decent internet connections. this site is a good way to gauge your reaction speed (my average is 287ms for 5 tries, and gets faster from there).

and if you bothered to read the OP, he has put in the effort. As have a lot of people.

like i said... it has nothing to do with reaction time when you know the landslide / phase change / golems, whatever are coming... I didn't read the "what should be done about this" part of OPs statement because i don't think anything needs to be done, well except a little bit of practice and study on OPs part. Not trying to sit here on some high horse and say stinking casuals gitgud, hell i just cleared t12 and im looking to get t13 outta the way before HW drops, so thats like 2 weeks to study up and clear. The only reason why i know its possible is because most of my static has already cleared (again having a majority that has clear as opposed to 5/8 who haven't) So i am in no way that top tier but it has been said time and time again that getting 7 other people who know what they are doing makes a world of difference and Titan EX is pretty much the first time all 8 people need to know whats going on and whats gonna happen next. That why the fail rate is so high... so many people who are new to the idea of "team jump rope."

oh and 303ms avarage lol... best outta 5 was 209

I have mixed feelings about this. It's nice to see everything but when WoW introduced "looking for raid" (a feature that made raids drop low ilvl gear and made them as hard as a standard dungeon) it made the world feel smaller.

There was a nice feeling when I saw someone with gear from the game's hardest raids and knew I would never get that gear unless I devoted some real time to raiding. When LFR came out a lot of people felt that they had nothing else to aspire to and many raiding guilds started to fall apart. Yes, the gear was not very good but you still killed that dragon.

I'm a new player and fairly casual. It will be a long time before I am ready for, say, the Final Coil.... And I'm okay with this. I'm not ready yet.

If I keep to it maybe someday I will be.

It's an MMO. You're not supposed to experience everything easily.

I am currently working on clearing T13, I have no problem doing the legwork behind raids, but I eventually lost my patience with the amount of time and sleep I had to sacrifice doing coil, while reading threads like these about just how people should "gitgud" and that casuals are ruining everything and everyone is soooo entitled.

If Alex nm turns out to be as bad or worse, then ill make whatever decisions with my sub then. I'm not even certain I want to do Alex because its not related to the calamity, and I was attached to finding out about 1.0s end.

But I am not going to suddenly appreciate people bitching about casuals, or keeping people out of content.

k? deciding whether or not you enjoy the content is how most people decide whether to keep playing, I'm pretty sure. Like, in any game. Sorry if that ruins the dramatic flair of your post.

I haven't seen anyone claiming casuals are ruining the game, but I do think there's a lot of entitlement in this thread. Do you not think so?

Edit @ your edit: I don't have a problem with casuals as a group. I have a problem with a handful of casuals who think they speak for every casual gamer. I'll probably continue bitching about things I don't like, just like literally everyone who's ever existed. Just like you're bitching about hardcores bitching about casuals. Can you still see the ground from a horse that high?

A lot of interesting stuff on this thread.

    My two cents:

    - I disagree with the notion that everyone is entitled to the same rewards (e.g. story progression) regardless of whether or not they successfully complete game objectives; it is a game, after all.

    - I appreciate the frustration people can experience with raids. The team jump rope is real, and if you have especially a tank or healer not on the same page with everyone else, they can kill the raid.

    - As others have said, being social and making an effort to learn the fights are key and will trump almost any inherent lack of gameplay learning ability. I suspect that almost all fights in the game were designed with this in mind so that almost everyone could succeed with enough practice.

You know what? after t13, I'm done. I started raiding to try and belong, but its just not a group I enjoy being with. I get obssesed with their opinions and hearing about spoilers.

I'll take a good night's sleep over gaming accomplishment.
