Graphic can always get an upgrade if it is not at max already and enough free space exist to evolve."Just like" doesn't mean "is," which when it comes to software development is a HUGE thing.
The PS4 can't really get any updates to graphics the way a PC can, as PCs are able to be upgraded above and beyond the PS4's capabilities, while a PS4 today will always be the way it is even 10 years from now.
Something FFXI's devs didn't really take into consideration...
A possibility could be that PC get DX 11, but PS4 get HD textures instead ^^ * if a dream come true *
SE can call it "Final Fantasy XIV HD Remastered PS4"

They probably don't want to deal with 3 vastly different clients. PS3 limitations and all. Remember the reason consoles got delayed was they had to pare down things for the PS3. You could quickly wind up with 2 elitist camps as well and not just the PC Master Race crowd.
SE say PS4 will get something similar, so the PS4 will get graphic update as well, but you should not go around and expect it to be like Dx11.
Actually, PS4 already looks 'close to PC'. As for this graphics update, do you mean DirectX11? That's not really a graphics update as a performance update, and only for those running a version of Windows that's able. Not saying the graphics won't be better, but it won't be because of any changes to the graphics themselves.
I wouldn't worry too much -- if you look at the before/after pictures in this link (you can slide it to show difference between DX9 and DX11), it doesn't look THAT different. Mostly, as Gilraen said, it seems just extra graphical stuff and not really texture upgrades or anything? Not sure myself, just going off the article and the pictures. I have a PC that can play the game in DX11 at Extremely High but I would still be satisfied with just the DX9 even if I couldn't, the difference seems so small when you actually compare them side by side (or slider).

I pretty happy the way the game looks on Ps4! If they add some sort of graphic option will be great but I not really bothered tbh. I could not play this or any game on a pc at all, I feel like I'm at work while looking at the computer screen and a keyboard along side. Games should be kept in a gaming console regardless of the graphics standard.that's just my opinion.
If you mean the PS3 release for 1.0, it got delayed and then abandoned because the 1.0 PC version failed.
ARR got released for PC and PS3 at the same time. And the PS4 version got delayed because there were no PS4 in the stores at ARR launch.

Adding extra graphic updates on a ps4 will alrdy increase a much longer loading times than there already is, I play from both and PS4 loading times can sometimes take the mickey.![]()
