I could not agree more Asuka. Granted framerate does drop in some instances and areas and such, PS4 does not have trouble maintaining 30+framerate at all times like some seem to think.
Unless there is hard evidence of this fact and even then not all PS4's run exactly the same, just like cars both can have the same exact engine and yet one will run a little faster. My car for instance being an example of that, hehe
Graphically it does not really matter all too much to me, the game looks beautiful and am happy with how it is at this moment.

Before I sold my PS4 to a friend, I didn't really notice any drastic difference between PC and PS4. After looking at some of those comparisons, the differences, while notable, aren't huge. It's not like it's going to make the PS4 version of FFXIV look like FFXI in comparison.

Nah doubt its getting a graphics update. I only played PS4 beta but even that seemed to be pushing it. It looked great, but the FPS dropped now and then. Im not a "pcmaster race" or anything but you really cant expect a console to keep up for long. PS4 is pushing 2 now... thats like 40 in computer years.

The PS4 already has a Direct X11 equivalent built into it, though I don't remember what it's called. I did some research on this earlier this week, and I was happy to find out that the PS4 can already produce Direct X11 quality graphics. So now the real question is is the game already showing with those graphics for PS4, or does SE need to release something that can take advantage of the PS4's Direct X11 equivalent? Or would they actually need to majorly rework the game to take advantage of it since console games aren't made to grow with graphics like a PC version is. Just yesterday I finally got a 1080p TV and the improvement in graphics was incredible compared to my 1080i TV. I was in awe walking around zones in the game yesterday at how detailed the textures, reflections, etc all were, and even how they looked during different weather and times of day.

EDIT: I meant 1080p for the new TV, lol, not 1080i.

The PS4 OS is a Unix variant of sorts (Orbis/FreeBSD). OpenGL is more likely to be natively supported than DirectX. They may be using Micro$oft products in their development environment and thus have access to DirectX there, but when it gets compiled for the console it will likely get converted to the console's native API's.

PS2, as a console, has lasted well and far longer than 2 years. XI still runs on it, just that Square stopped releasing the disks for it outside of Japan with Adoulin. Either way, there will likely be no graphical enhancements for the console version because they're pretty well optimized for their respective platforms. The only reason there's a DirectX11 version being released is because of PC's ever changing hardware between users, often between one user's protean build. DirectX is a gateway between Windows and the hardware which it's on.
