Graphic can always get an upgrade if it is not at max already and enough free space exist to evolve."Just like" doesn't mean "is," which when it comes to software development is a HUGE thing.
The PS4 can't really get any updates to graphics the way a PC can, as PCs are able to be upgraded above and beyond the PS4's capabilities, while a PS4 today will always be the way it is even 10 years from now.
Something FFXI's devs didn't really take into consideration...
A possibility could be that PC get DX 11, but PS4 get HD textures instead ^^ * if a dream come true *
SE can call it "Final Fantasy XIV HD Remastered PS4"

I think the PS4 can handle a graphics upgrade, as for PC's, not all PC's can handle DX11, I have a PC that can handle the benchmark on med/high, I have a PC that as of now can't even handle a small fate without going to it's knees like it was hit in the CPU, look at the PS3, there are apparently enough people playing that they are bringing 3.0 to it.

They probably don't want to deal with 3 vastly different clients. PS3 limitations and all. Remember the reason consoles got delayed was they had to pare down things for the PS3. You could quickly wind up with 2 elitist camps as well and not just the PC Master Race crowd.

If you mean the PS3 release for 1.0, it got delayed and then abandoned because the 1.0 PC version failed.
ARR got released for PC and PS3 at the same time. And the PS4 version got delayed because there were no PS4 in the stores at ARR launch.

Yes...but the ps3 release was first put off because it had issues and not because of 1.0 itself. A large part of that was resource management issues. Basically the old PS2 Limitations scenario from XI was in effect.

As I recall the 1.0 build was as unoptimized mess. So much so that rigs which should have been able to tear it apart were still experiencing performance issues. I think the lack of a 1.0 PS3 attempt was less about the limitations of the console and had far more to do with the way they had built the game in the first place.

That was the reasoning after their initial delays. It was initially delayed because of hardware limitations--it didn't have enough resources available to port it more directly to the console. A quick google hit this article, amongst others:As I recall the 1.0 build was as unoptimized mess. PS3 Memory Issues To Blame For Late Final Fantasy XIV Release
Consistency across the platforms has always been a thing with SE. In the past, they virtually flat out refused to add even simple UI/QoL changes that would be exclusive to just one platform. To see them even consider some of the HD improvements to the PC's UI in XI was a shocker--but it also coincided with them deciding to no longer extend support of new content to the PS2 either. I would imagine some of that same reluctance may be in play again with XIV as well.PS3 Memory Issues To Blame For Late Final Fantasy XIV Release

At least it isn't being chocked up to the "closed" nature of PSN, right?
It's been known for a bit that the PC and PS3 versions of Final Fantasy XIV would not be launched alongside each other this September. But the reason why the PS3 version will appear in March 2011--a total of six months after the PC version hits shelves--wasn't widely reported until earlier this week, when Square Enix revealed that reason is related to some sort of memory pinch.
"The main reason was the memory," FFXIV producer Hiromichi Tanaka told VG247 during Gamescom in Cologne, speaking through a translator. "On the PC, they have enormous memory. For [the] PS3, there's a restriction."
Tanaka didn't talk specifics on the memory hold-up. He reiterated "memory" when pressed, leaving us to wonder if it's RAM, hard drive, or even Blu-ray related. But he did add that Square Enix is working hard and steps are being taken to adjust the size of the game's memory. Thanks!
"[We] are adjusting the memory size and customizing it. It took longer then we were expecting. But we’re really working hard to bring it out as soon as possible.”
In other related news, there have been recent rumblings about the Xbox 360 version of the MMO, as Square Enix has carefully relaxed its position on Microsoft's "closed" Xbox Live service. But as of now, it still appears as if that version of the game probably not happening--not that you were holding your breath or anything.

SE say PS4 will get something similar, so the PS4 will get graphic update as well, but you should not go around and expect it to be like Dx11.

Actually, PS4 already looks 'close to PC'. As for this graphics update, do you mean DirectX11? That's not really a graphics update as a performance update, and only for those running a version of Windows that's able. Not saying the graphics won't be better, but it won't be because of any changes to the graphics themselves.
