- I need to add the differences should be calculated based on the 'effective' stat (after equipped) on gear offered by Vendor / retainers as opposed to the item's 'original' stat.

- A lot of times players needed to guess and risk buying the item and not knowing what the stats will be when equipped on their character ( either higher level than the item or lower level ).

Example :-
- I am level 10 wearing an item with 50 defense.
- Someone selling an item of level 15 and with 60 defense.
- The defense of the item will scaled down as it's not optimum.
- Assuming that the defense of that item will be scaled down to 55 when I equip on my current level 10 char, the 'difference' should show "+5" instead of "+10".

This give an idea immediately whether I should spend the gil on the item or not, as opposed to 'guessing' how it will scaled to my char and regret if it's not appearing the way I hoped it would.

Please ensure this is done as opposed to comparison with the item's original stat. It will serve no purpose to show a difference of "+100" defense improvement and only to find later on that it will be scaled down to something worse than what I'm currently wearing.
You were one step ahead of me... I was about to post the same suggestion. (^_^ ) At the moment it's incredibly hard to distinguish if a Rank 15 item with +10 Defense is better for a Rank 10 class then a Rank 20 item with +15 Defense because we can't see what the scaled down Defense for a Rank 10 class, unless we would buy and equip both of them.

Aerycat, you suggested that rather then displaying 60 Defense, you would rather see the scaled down 55 Defense on the item. They could also display a penalty if the item would be equiped on for a "less then optimal" rank. For instance, instead of displaying "Defense: 55", they could use "Defense: 60 - 5".

That way you can see the Defense it would have when equiped for it's optimal rank, plus the penalty for equiping it on a class which is 5 ranks lower then it's optimal rank.

What do you think?
