What makes this game fun?

I'm thinking of buying the game, so I'm on the trial version at the moment.

It's enjoyable so far but I wanted to ask everyone's opinions.

So if you could answer honestly:
What makes this game fun for you?
What advice would you give me starting out?
Any negatives you have found so far?

For me part of the fun is the variety of classes you can play. Even though you can do everything with one character I like making alts to explore different looks. Some of the npc characters you meet make me laugh too.

My advice would be to stick with the class/job you feel most connected with. To get through the story you want to play something that flows comfortably for you so you enjoy the challenges you face. You'll also want to level up other classes that meld well with your main to maximize your abilities but don't let anyone else shame you because you didn't unlock a secondary class ability yet.

What makes the game fun for me is the tremendous amount of things to do and the comedy they randomly throw in throughout the world. May it be funny quest scripts or a random drunken NPC fishing and ranting to himself.

My advice would be to simply enjoy the game the way you want to play it. Don't feel pressured to level quickly, or to get gear because people say so. Just play the game, enjoy the stories and have fun! Oh and mess around with game UI settings because there is a lot to customize to fit you play style.

The only negative is I remember the map and getting around to be SUPER confusing when first starting out. So learning to navigate that may or may not be tricky at first but it gets better.

Well for me is the sense of accomplishment
Leveling crafting classes its not just a mindless grind or press one button and let the bar fill up, it actually takes a bit of thought on how to craft the actual item especially if you want it to reach high quality, with the different tools and skills that you get.

Also with the thing of being able to have all classes avaliable to you and the ability to mix their skills up also opens up to new techniques on how to craft, fight and gather.

Ive felt a bit of an accomplishment whenever I beat the hard modes for the primals (big ass summon bosses), same for when I maxed my first crafting class, etc. Unlike WoW even though WoW is a bit more polished on the raid side, the game just feels a bit dullish when it comes to achievemens and class leveling, I assume because of after 10 years the game has been gradually making it easier so it doesnt matter as much as it used to and its barely focused on "Lets get to max level and clear the end game"

4.) community is mostly positive, funny, patient, and friendly
5.) Devs put alot of time and effort into the game
6.) STORy!
7.) not a cash grab game
8.) play all classes on one character
9.) able t earn top gear in various ways
10.) An active open world
11.) game is celebrated WORLDWIDE!- international

advice- ask questions and always reach out - theres always someone to guide you. i think having info can keep you getting lost in the game and feel more connected.

negatives:
1.) no in game voice chat
2.) glamour system- needs log
3.) more dyeable pieces
4.) some type of spar/duel system- open world
5.) more pvp zones

What advice would you give me starting out?
I would say pick a class you like the best and stick with it t'ill you max it, you get a little 50% exp bonus with whatever other class thats lower than your highest one. Aslong as its a combat class. You can also main a crafting class or a gatherer either one. I started with Botanist then switched to White Mage (Conjurer). I'm on behemoth if you want someone to play with I wouldnt mind giving you some pointers whenever im on. Also Try to get someone to refer a friend you so you get the 20% exp boost item, if you want i can help with that too if you dont mind providing me your email address.

Any negatives you have found so far?
Only negative I've found which isnt really a negative is that the raids are a bit "easy" and that if youve played wow youve seen every possible mechanic they are using atm.
