A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.

But you see what I'm getting at right?
If healers can DPS, and tanks can DPS...well of course DPS can DPS, but unless you're going to put enrages on every dick tom and larry that calls themself a boss, why choose them when you can have the survivability of raises/medica and boatloads of defense?

You're making the wrong assumption here. But you see what I'm getting at right?

They're basing it off how SCH would be able to put out pretty OK damage in addition to healing with minimal extra effort, but they still don't come close to a summoner's raw damage since the summoner has their pet and is spamming ruin instead of healing.
If you replace DPS with more tanks or healers, your total numbers go down and you won't be able to make the new DPS checks. If anything, it will encourage attempts at solo healing and/or solo tanking since primary DPS classes have always and will always outstrip main healers and tanks in terms of DPS.
EVERY fight in FFXIV is timed, so just because you can DEAL damage doesn't mean you can deal ENOUGH damage.

I do see where you're coming from, healer and tank dps needs to be balanced against their other utilities, but to me it doesn't seem like the interview is suggesting a change in the dynamics of healer/tank dps (which right now seems about right. I never see raiding parties with more than the default number of healers or tanks), only that the developers are now more aware of what the player base is doing with it and are designing the raids accordingly. But you see what I'm getting at right?

Actually no. I don't see what you're getting at. Enrages are in the game for a reason. Healers and tanks all have checks we must clear to ensure that we're keeping the party safe and alive. Enrage is a check for DPS-es to ensure that they're contributing at the same level as the rest of the group. There's nothing wrong with enrages IMO. Also any half decent group is going to want to clear a content efficiently. Stacking tons of healers and tanks in your raid group is far from efficient. Giving healers and tanks a slight DPS bump isn't going to render DPS obsolete at all.But you see what I'm getting at right?

I don't think they meant they were going to literally increase their damage, just make it easier to heal and deal damage similar to how SCH could. they wouldn't be allowed to make tanks and healers deal equal damage to dps because as what you're assuming it would make dps obsolete. But you see what I'm getting at right?

So if there's definitely only 5 new skills then that means WAR only has 1 skill to spend abadon on from what it sounds like.
I kinda thought that deliverance would use the same skills as defiance but more dps oriented. For example the aoe skill that was used in deliverance had the exact same animation as steel cyclone, only some visual effects on the ground were altered.

just checked both job action vids and the animations are at least different if that's the case, the aoe in deliverance the warrior slams his axe on the ground, whereas steel cyclone just does spin animation.
