    Petition! Bring back <call> macro!

    Hello guys!

Those who played FF11 would remember nice <call1> <call12>...<call14> macros. Those macros were used to make sounds/rings in party chat to draw attention. Maybe many have noticed that during dungeon runs or NM fights not many people read chat log, but sometimes our lifes depend on it. So I would like to draw yours and developers attention to these little but very helpfull macros. SE please re-introduce them in FF14 too!

Well that's a little bit different. There they said about /tell ring notification. But these "commands" make me miss FF11 so much. Hope they look into them too. But still thx for the info, glad they make at least /tell BEEP

I hope the <call> command never reaches FFXIV. It was brutally annoying because people abused the shit out of it and it ignored system volume. AKA: Your sound is set to low and someone in PT does a <call> and it blasts at full volume, waking others in your home.

You also need to consider that if it was implemented, they couldn't add a toggle for it, because that would defeat the purpose. The game is better off without <call>. Best just to assume that if someone is AFK, they have a good reason, and they will come back when they're ready to do so. Life > Game.

I don't need to hear those stupid whistles or all the noobs thinking <call5> is the funniest thing ever.

Why bring something back what wasn't here the first place? ^^
So, what is this <call> and why do we need it?

It was a set of text commands in FFXI that made annoying noises that people used to wake up those who fell asleep after grinding in a PT for 8-12 hours.

Or that they'd put on their macros.

    /p USING BOOST! I'M UBER NOW <call>
    /p wait 1
    /p HERE I GOOOOOOOO~ <call>
    /ja "Boost " <me>
    /p I R BOOSTED! RAWR <call>
    *repeat every 15 seconds*

The calls ranged from eardrum bleeding whistle, to migraine inducing bells, to a deflating trumpet fanfare. They were awful, and this game does not need them.

the tells chiming will/should be enough to wake someone up, i see no reason for <call> other than nostalgia purpose.
