Just leave the group and join a static if you feel the need to enforce performance on everyone that doesn't live up to your standard or the games minimal requirements.

Otherwise you're just injecting yourself into the situation intentionally so your can be objectionable to something. Like looking for trouble on purpose. Drama feeder type stuff.
Is it really insulting? Or would it be preferable to let the weak link(s) wallow in ignorance?
It's unfortunate that many don't take criticism well, but the ones that do may well end up improving after being informed.

If the DPS is bad enough to hit enrage, it's not a matter of personal standards being too high. It's objectively too weak.

Tanks and healers can do really big impact for dps too. If you look at this video pld can do 475 warrior 483 scholar 384 whm 339 without echo in t10.

Good, I was starting to miss topics like these. For a moment I was starting to not feel like the lowest form of life for playing a BLM.

Ya'know there was this feeling I was getting for the last year and a half of playing but I just couldn't put my finger on it... But I think you nailed it.

DPS are seen as disposable by a lot of players and it really starts to wear on you. Back about a month after hunts came out I was running to Vogaal Ja and shouted for an invite. Got into the party and what did the healer do? Sneered about another leech joining the party and informed me that anyone who wasn't a tank or healer was just a leech. I was startled and hurt (yes I know, grow a thicker skin) and apologized and told them that it was my only class because I was lazy and hadn't leveled anything else yet but that I would try to do my best.

I am always happy to hear how I can do my job better. I go out of my way to consult 'known-goods' on my server to see what I could change to improve my performance. If I'm not 100% confident in a fight and I'm the only stranger I'll ask if they saw anything they'd like me to change to fit their party's strategy more or do better dps; and then implement it the very next run through.

I play BLM because I like it. But sometimes I just feel like crap because that's how this game treats dps (and mages especially[in glamours, males and mages]).

I do not understand the greif DPS get (as a whole) because theres 4 players in a full party that are DPS, not all of them are bad, and they are certainly not all the same job or play styles.
If you want to call out a particular something theyre doing wrong and show them how to do it better then by all means - thats actually good feedback and is likely to change the outcome of the next attempt. "Bad DPS" means youve no clue how to fix it, so its all a waste of time.
I'm having to throw way back to the days of Titan Ex here, where DPS were constantly blamed but realy the team needed to reflect and realise MNK is having trouble with positionals so suggest the android app that lets him/her know when weight of land is coming, DRG and BLM are having trouble with weight of land because the healers arent stood together with the team -easy fix, and ta-da! WIN!

Calling out someone for failed mechanics is easy.

But when the DPS are doing less damage than the tanks and healers, and we wipe to failed DPS check or enrage... We can't call them out cause parsers are apparently the app-spawn of satan.

So we're left with "bad DPS".
