    New element for blackmage to toy with?

    I love the fire ice thunder system for blackmage, but simply adding tiers on top of the current ones is just... getting old

    So maybe adding a new element for blackmages to master would be a good idea.

    it could be Aether, raw power of ones magic directly gushing out of wand/staff;
    Or gravity, pulling in and pushes away for personal safety;
    Darkness, self explanatory, but that would be voidsents and not really "warrior of the light";
    Perhaps time, similar to gravity but more on the buff/debuff side than actually damage

    Whatcha guys think?

    My understanding is that the elemental side belongs to thm.

    The blm spells are the dark/aether manipulation/dimensional stuff - so very likely and easy for them to add new skills.

    I was actually hoping for a chain lightning spell (AoE Thunder), that would have been fantastic. All the new stuff looks pretty awesome too though, yay Haste!

    More diversity would be great, but as it stands the current classes each specialize in a specific set of elements, and I don't see SE diversifying them.

    BLM: Fire-Ice-Thunder for pure destruction.
    WHM: Wind-Earth-Water-Holy, for a "natury" feel.
    SMN: Non-elemental, Poison, Darkness.

    Gravity and Time spells would most belong to Astrologians. BLM already has access to a Slow+Heavy spell though, I forgot how it's called.

    Burst is the lightning equivalent of flare and freeze.

    Actually, it belongs to Conjurer (they work with elements) until the elementals were split between the two to create a more classic "blm".

    Yeah, I almost miss classic Thaumaturge. They had some genuinely unique skills like Sacrifice alongside their dark and light element attacks. Conjurer was the caster which originally had Fire, Ice and Lightning spells until everything was divided in half, much to my great dismay, in preparation for the removal of elemental weaknesses and resistances.
