Chocobo Clothing Ideas
To add to the customisability of the colour and type of your chocobo, special armour, harnesses and clothes could be incorporated into it that you can equip to make your chocobo look more unique.
Armour would be composed of plating and straps much like we saw in pictures in FFXI and what the upcoming chocobos would appear to possess in 1.19. To add to this it would be good to be able to colour that armour simply for cosmetic and style.
Harnesses also could run on the same system, letting you have your own funky looking seat to sit on whilst you dash across Eorzea on your feathery friend.
Clothing could be added perhaps just for cosmetic or comedy, such as putting a silly pointy wizard hat on your chocobos head or dressing it in a suit, or perhaps drapes to give it a more elegant look.
Other ideas to this could be elemental based armour. With the induction of materia into our crafting, we could add elemental traits to a chocobos armour that would cause a certain percentage of it's attack to be of a particular element, such as fire or wind, allowing the battle chocobos to excell at fighting particular enemies. These types of armour could even include special effects such as flames, lights, glows, sparks or other elemental shinyness, making your chocobo look quite bad-ass.
Another cosmetic option would be the ability to attach a flag to your chocobos harness that has your linkshells logo on it. When riding in a group with other linkshell members this would give your party that extra-awesome appaearance, as to onlookers you'll look like a battalion of soldiers riding valiantly into battle.
This would also mean that future events could reward players with chocobo clothing and equipment, as well as ones for your character, which would add to the fun. Imagine at christmas riding around in the 'dream' outfit whilst your chocobo has a funny santa hat on, a white beard tied to his beak, red clothes with white fluff across his wings, and bells, tinsel and mistletoe hanging from the storage bags and harness, jingling along merrily at christmas.
