the only downside i see is the holiday option. maybe set it to like 2-3 weeks. and you cant turn it off untill the 2-3 weeks are up. just thinking people may abuse this. or give people the option of how long they will be away like "3 weeks 4 days"
I was thinking maybe some kind of 24 hour cooldown timer, that way you can't just keep switching it on and off, the most you could do is suspend it for whatever duration then have to wait another day before you could do it again, which would be ultimately pointless and none of the system could be exploited with those means. At most people using it to suspend it whilst they're offline would get less ill chocobos, but they'd miss out on any passive bonus they may have received such as increased chocobo stats, mood or personality changes if they had kept it on active.
So basically trying to use it to decrease chocobo illnesses will only result in nerfing the proper chocobo development phase :P

Foreseeable problem with the entire thing would be if they were to release it as a patch it'd be an enormous size as it's a heck of a lot of content to throw in all at once.
It'd be more likely to be added as part of an expansion pack.
S.E could possibly use it's appeal of originality however with advertising the expansion pack it'd come on in magazines, on t.v and such to boost up a bit of hype and get some players joining/coming back.

I was considering this whilst I was writing it, I'd also love moogles to maintain my chocobo stable. It would also kinda feel like a new version of FFXI's Moogle House.
Only reason I chose retainers instead of moogles is that moogles atm appear to rarely be seen outside of Black Shroud, and even there they would appear to be a rarity. Also since retainers possess the same 'teleport with anima' lore mechanic as us players do (since the teleport in and out when you summon them) then teleporting to you when capturing a chocobo and teleporting it back to the stable, or teleporting from the stable to the summoning bell would I suppose make more sense. I'm not sure moogles can use the teleportation mechanic as I haven't seen them use it yet.
I think S.E has something planned for moogles in FFXIV and that plan doesn't involve putting them everywhere you go like games such as FF9 did, I believe they have a special role to play, possibly in the storyline or maybe some yet-to-be-seen game mechanic. So I didn't want to be presumptious and expect moogles to be a common usable commodity to adventurers like retainers are.
