There's alot going on right now in my life, still love gaming, just have a little less cognitive abilities to donate to a game..lol Now pride does at times come into play with me, and as in most games ive played i am never a weak link and often a strong link. So instead of forcing myself onto a group and not give 100% of myself as a tank or healer, I figured id try DPS since in most games (and again dont be offended) DPS is easier. When i say easier, i don't mean less important. But if your healer sucks, tank probably dies and then everyone dies.. If tank dies (not becuase of healer) everyone probably dies. BUT if DPS dies or DPS sucks, the raid or dungeon or match or game or whatever you want to call it will simply take longer UNLESS there is a raid im not aware of in FFXIV that is on a timer of some sort.

Id rather be a average or above average DPS (maybe even good) instead of a below average healer/tank. As much as my time is valuable to me, I respect others time and not everyone wants to wipe and restart over and over..

you mistaken my simple minded attitude for laziness. I simply want to play a game. Im a little tired of working in a game. It might only last a few months maybe even just weeks but for now I'd like DPS since it tends to play less of a impact on group survival.

In ending, i never said i want to stand still and hit 1 or 2 skills but i simply want a class that has a pretty set rotation and that doesn't have to also keep an eye on pets or on healing or tanking or anything other then the enemy. Yes i'll move, yes i'll kite, yes i'll communicate if im in a teamspeak channel or in chat if thats what it takes but i want to be responsible for me and my target... if possible.

    thanks guys

I have 4 full bar of binds my own smn. Pet commands cost lot of binds if you wanna control it properly.

Man, that's a hefty assumption, considering that SMN is nowhere near my main. Neither is BLM. But I do make it a point to be familiar with all the DPS classes and their current theorycraft. Just because I'm saying you're wrong doesn't make me defensive.

Pretty sure playing Summoner takes a lot work. Have aetherflow stacks up-Raging strikes-bio2-miasma-bio-fester-contagion (if you're using garuda)-be in melee range for miasma 2 and book smacking -swiftcast flare-rouse-ruin2-spur-ruin2-enkindle-fester-ruin spam until you need to refresh dots and shadowflare, use fester when it's up. Something like that. A lot more work then say a black mage.

A bard can be easy to play but becoming a very good bard won't be as easy. The more you practice playing a class it'll become second nature to you.

OP, don't listen to this nonsense. SMN is one of the hardest classes to play competitively (lots of things to micromanage) and it also has the largest hotkey set of consistent skill usage only rivaled by WAR and possibly Eos SCH.

As a DRG main I can tell you that DRG is NOT the class you want. I have 2.5 hotbars, and the DRG rotation is one of the longest in the game with a large number of oGCDs to juggle on top of that. I find it extremely fun, but I also won't deny that it is pretty intense button-pushing-wise.

YAY Im relevant but I play ninja and currently it is really simple. You stand behind the bosses and go through your combos.....no moving (unless the boss turns or aoe) and all of my skils (save my lb,passives and free roam ie chocobo) are on one hot bar. Only problems I have are that the dots and buffs arent the same length so sometimes management gets awkward and mudra lag is real

But if you dont like rotations or simple is the biggest priority then I would go black mage

Well, starting from below, you can surpass the 1k character limit by editing a post you already.... posted.

BLM is definitely what you are looking for. Since you already stated that you dont wanna bother with a pet, SMN is already out of the question.
BRD is another good option with which you can still support your party somewhat. But unlike BLM, BRD has a lot of skills which you will be using quite often, meanwhile BLM wont really, unless you start using the Fire Weaving.

BLM is self-sufficient, laid-back, and its party support is solely its AoE-DPS power and one or two party member selecting def buff that healers will love.

I find Bard to be the most relaxing but that's keeping in mind the fact that I spent a number of years playing a hyper mobile ranged physical dps class in another game. It feels like home.

For black maging I only use two bars, one of those just has long cooldowns on it from cross class abilities and I maintain my rotation on a single bar quite easily. The hardest thing about BLM (to me at least) is long cast times so you have to know when it's safe to do long casts. Mobile we are not. Other than that, our rotation is pretty easy.
