    Ninja or Black Mage

When I began playing FFXIV, I started off as a summoner. I got all the way to my animus before I realized that summoners really lack burst damage end game and I didn't like it anymore. I then began playing with my Ninja and got all the way to my Novus, but then I decided to level my black mage to 50 and I LOVE the big numbers and AOE's that my black mage puts out in end game dungeons. I now want to main as a Black Mage but im not sure if its a better class than Ninja. I also want to start the relic quest for the 3rd time with my black mage but im not sure if its worth it either. Which class do you prefer?

Ninja is more complex than Black mage and looks to get even more complex in HW. If you're not good with learning rotations (Summoner) then I'd just go with the Black Mage , even with its new additions it still won't amount to the effort it takes to pump out high DPS as a NIN , tho they statistically are the easier to get high numbers out of only once you've gotten down a true NIN rotation.

I've played both endgame and when I want to be lazy I'll go BLM because F3 and Fire spam are just too easy, whilst having to deal with mudras and what not when I really want to pump up the DPS of the raid overall I'll just go with NIN

Also SMN has some nice changes coming to it in HW and the burst damage could be high with Dreadwyrm Trance being intoduced not , to mention Tri-Disaster which will let you get your DoTs on multiple Targerts faster , increasing your total DPS not to mention I think Fester is becoming an AoE move itself

Also remember, pick which ever class is more fun for you. Number can be great and all but whatever is more fun! I'm a level 50 white mage, and a level 50 arcanist (Leveling black mage at the moment). I have alot of fun play them!

I am honestly bored to tears as BLM but it is all down to whatever is more fun for you. The huge numbers are great and all, but it's way too boring for me.

I don't find the ninja skill rotations that complex to be honest. I love my ninja but I also love seeing BIG numbers when I attack. I could be wrong but it just feels like my Black Mage does more damage than my Ninja. My Ninja is i118 and my Black Mage is only i106 but it feels like my Black Mage is already doing comparable damage, if not more damage than my Ninja. The only thing that worries me about maining as a Black Mage is starting the relic quest all over again even though I already have a Novus and Animus on 2 other classes.

I have to agree with you on the glamour. Black Mages do have better looking glamour options than Ninjas.

I thought Black Mages were boring too until I got to lvl 50 and got Flare. I don't really find black mages boring. Maybe because i'm still sorta new to this class?

Haha yeah thats exactly how I was at 50. I loved the huge Flare as much as the next guy, but maybe I just need to venture into other classes for the time being.

Well for starters, no class is better than any other class. And as far as specific damage numbers, it completely varies on the encounter. If you are talking single target boss fights like coil or primals, keeping skill level even across the field, melee will do more damage than a caster. And each melee has it's specific encounters that really allow it to outshine the others. However for dungeon trash, and even add phases in coil, Black Mage is king. And BLM's single target isn't a slouch either. The numbers are really big, but just remember the longer cast times. Melee has smaller numbers, but in quick succession. The jobs are all really balanced so you really just have to play what you find is the most fun. Good thing is you won't really be singled out of any content or any static because of the class you play. All are viable.
