Can we please cool it with the macros?

i only ever have macros on skills that are important to a fight (silence provoke stun virus etc) the only 2 i will use a lot is my "thanks for the party" macro and the "Were dead wipe it up" macro

though to those who spam the ever lasting heck out of macros need to tone it down quite a bit

I have 2 macros, both with very short messages and a sound effect. One for Virus, one for Raise. The raise one is mostly to say "Hey other healer, I'm swiftcast reviving this guy, please don't waste your MP doing the same thing." And if anyone gets bothered by that, sorry not sorry.

Sounds like someone that joined my PF - would spam this 10+ line macro to say hi for every new person that joined and repeat it if he ever get interrupted during his macro

The only thing that gets on my nerves is that every WAR/PAL in this game thinks he/she has to have some sort of "Notice me senpai" macro with provoke and sounds that just spams the chat log. It is like every single duty finder I go into to.

I really enjoy the ASCII images of Cats. At least the ones I've seen seem to do it in moderation and not spam up the chat box.

I only have my Raise with macro and sound. Have been meaning to add a Bene one as well.

The number of people from my hunt ls that are on blist for having obscenely long or obnoxious macros is not small though.

When people flood the chat box with useless text on macros ("Get ready to BURN with the fiery damnation of seven hells of righteous FLAMES! You'll roast for enternity! BURN BURN BURN!!! Fire 3!"), I can't see something important if it comes up. Worse still is when those macros distract me from mechanics or divide my attention from what I'm doing.

I think the only macro I have for an ability that also announces something tied with it is for Hallowed Ground only to warn people that it's up, and that's it, no sound effect, and short and to the point (probably do some other War CDs, but wouldn't be many). I imagine the only other warning macro I would have would be for a swiftcast+rez, but I don't really have those classes up.

Informative macros I don't mind, spam is irritating. If it's tied to an ability, I would prefer the message to serve a purpose and be concise rather than filling up your chat box. I get picky with tanking macros as announcing CDs is fine, but tying a text macro to ranged pulls, DPS buffs, and taunts (outside of raiding, even then I would do it over voice) is needless.

I don't use any skill announce macros, don't see the point. Any half decent player doesn't need me to tell them I just used a skill.

I once met a Paladin that had a Flash macro with sound effects...
