    Remove Guildhests from Main Story

    So obviously I'm a L50 player at end-game content, but as a guild leader there is one part of the story that I have heard endless complaints about:

    The guy in Mor Dhona who forces you to play guildhests.

    I honestly think this should be removed. It does nothing for the story, doesn't progress the player in any way, and is unnecessarily gated content. I've had players who don't even want to continue through the main story with it in.

    I know any player who has beaten it has said "suck it up", and trust me I played them too, but even then I had to play as a tank to deal with the excruciatingly long queues and waste of time for absolutely nothing. Can we please remove this quest from the story? Heavensward is going to make this queue even more irritating for DPS than ever before.

    If they just increase the rewards for the daily hest, it shouldn't be too much of an issue to get these done. And since you're talking about guilds, it really doesn't take a lot of time or effort to help each other out with hests.

    I wish they'd not put the dungeons/guildhests as gated material levels above when they open for you much earlier. If you don't need to do the such-n-such quest to open a dungeon or guildhest when they first come available, what's the point in making them gated material many levels later? Or give people credit for doing the dungeons/hests if they've already done them. I mean, there's that one hooked into the main scenario quest line when you're level 50 that has you queue up for a level 30 hest. What's the point of this? It's just busy work.

    Well I always saw guildhests as free and nice extra exp for the 1st time completion with each class/job.

    Do people really hate it so much? o.O

    They are nice exp when you complete them the first time on each class/job. They're also gated material that you're forced to do many, many levels above the level they first become available. I don't hate them. I run them once on the characters I'm playing. My issue is being forced to do a level 15/30 when you're level 50. You do a quest to open them at level 10 and then you're forced to do the same exact hest at level 50. You don't think that's excessive? It's not hard. It's just annoying.

    That goes for a lot of stuff in this game, though. Having to do a couple guildhests is really not that bad.

    I mean, which parts of the story quests are actually "hard" to begin with?

I could go do dungeons or lead mah brave chocobo into leve-battles for the treasures or participate in fate groups or queue for something I actually want to do or party up with friends or just craft stuff without having to immediately stop in the middle of something because the queue pops. It's not hard. It's repetitive. It's annoying. I've already done the quest to open them. I did it at level 10. I shouldn't be FORCED into doing again. For those without other FC people online (for those of us who play at weird hours) or who aren't tanks/healers, they're looking at potentially waiting an hour in the queue for something they did 40 levels ago.

    What it boils down to is that it's simply busy work, put into the main scenario to stretch it out. It's laziness on SEs part.

If you were able to do them when each patch was released it wouldn't have been so bad. Those who are new or playing catch-up, its a little mind numbing. I had to take a break once I reached Keeper of the Lake (still haven't done it) just to keep my sanity. I don't think there was too much foresight into what new or catch up players were going to have to go through.

    It wasn't busy work when they added it. Nobody did guildhests, so they wanted to get people into them. Then they forgot about them after 2.1

    Exactly! The idea was great when it was released, but it's not helping any longer. The greatest challenge to this are people like me who didn't care about a guildhest and didn't do any of them until L50. But the only way to play the one that the NPC wanted was by defeating every - single - one, one after another. The queues were just ridiculous and there was never a time anywhere throughout the entire story mode that we ever had to do them. With how leveling works and the dungeon progression, they were never necessary for me because the game did a good enough job without them.
