Cannot find available housing at all.

This is ridiculous. I made a forum account just to voice my concerns over this. Was there no foresight from SE? How did they let this trainwreck happen?

I'm on Balmung, with some friends of mine since ARR came out. At first, it was very expensive to obtain a house, but over time it became better. Unfortunately due to IRL circumstances, most of the group of us left for a while. We've resubbed to get up on the main storyline before Heavensward, but now find ourselves completely stuck on an overpopulated server without a single housing spot available. These are my concerns.

... I just noticed that SE has a 1000 character limit on posts. How absurd. More to follow.

Here are my issues:

1) SE has no safe and secure way to even sell houses between players. This makes me assume they did not want this to be an option, else they'd have given a way to securely do it without being griefed/scammed or someone being faster on the draw than you for the plots.

2) SE forces players to chose low populated servers to find housing for their FC or even personal houses. The problem with this? The absolute TEDIUM of creating characters on each server just to find if there IS houses available! You have to create the char, go through unskippable cutscenes and a tutorial, run out to the only zone that char has available, then either do the storyline up until you're able to get to either zones, or make another char to do the unskippable cutscenes again! IT'S ABSURD. I've spent hours going through servers looking for open house slots.

3) To move off Balmung, we have to GIVE UP 90% OF OUR GIL, meaning we'd need to make it all back once on this new server, at which point they may have already taken the damned spot we wanted. LET ALONE the fact that DURING TRANSFER someone may buy it up!

This is a complete wreck of a system. I'm left with a sour taste in my mouth and much less desire at buying Heavensward if we cannot have an FC house. Any other option, such as joining existing FC's for their house and buying rooms (which if kicked do they even refund? what happens if the FC leader is a douche?) is out of the question, as we're a tight knit group of friends who've stuck through plenty of MMOs together. We're not going to end up the lackeys of some other FC just because SE has zero foresight. All sorts of negativity in this entire system and zero posts since SEPTEMBER 2014 before patch 2.4 even came out on the matter.

This game is thriving despite this, and obviously SE cares not, or they'd have fixed this long ago, but I'm leery on giving my money to this company if they can't find a way to resolve this, or at least keep their customers in the loop at what they're GOING to be doing.

As far as the housing availability goes, Jenova has a few mediums left on Goblet and Zalera and Zodiark has plenty of housing from what I hear.

Houses get sold out on Mist first, then Lavender Beds, and Goblet last.. So checking out the situation with an Ul'dahn character would probably give you the best insight..

No. We'd rather unsub than get a house in Brownsville. Regardless, thank you for the insight on locations. Too bad they don't give this information out readily to newly subbed chars. I wonder how all the new subs they're getting think about the dire situation on housing without knowing they're unwittingly on a server that's jammed to the gills?

Really, I wouldn't even see that as much of an issue if SE allowed a way out for people who feel stuck.. Let people move more than 1 million gil, what is SE's obsession with 1 million? can't trade more than 1 million at once, can't mail more than 1m at once.. can't move servers with more than 1m at once, for crying out loud, 1m isn't some huge magic number like a bajillion and it's not like new server's economies need to be "protected" from legacy money, hell new servers have more money than the old ones most of the time

Btw, if you're willing to scrap together some extra gil, I hear 30-40mil buys you a small house in Balmung..

If not, your only hope would be to get a house when someone moves servers, but somebody who already has a house on Balmung probably won't move servers without a very good reason

SE has a lot to explain for itself for this train wreck they call housing. I'm not looking for the perfect spot in Mists overlooking the ocean, I'm looking for choice that doesn't involve losing 90% of my FC's isk, a harrowing journey to a new server for the POTENTIAL for a house in a third rate district we don't even want and you're here DEFENDING this godawful attitude as if it's *MEANT* to be so absurd.

Of course, I could just be feeding a troll, in which case your peanut gallery friends are calling you.

Edit: let's not forget the fact we must pay SE for this ridiculously convoluted "opportunity" as well.

I just find it odd that you are here complaining about housing but if there was available housing in the Goblet you would rather un-sub. You are coming off as a self entitled brat. You can't always get what you want. While I do agree the housing situation is pretty bad for many, and hopefully it is remedied in the future.

Just because everybody knows everybody on Jenova, that don't mean we's in Brownsville

But yeah, I wouldn't move an entire FC at $18 a pop per person just for the housing feature.. if SE offered free server changes from high pop to low pop, so many problems could be alleviated..

If you really did mean Goblet by Brownsville, then yeah.. you're a little late to the party, gotta take what you can get at this point
Goblet is actually my favorite housing district, it has its charms
