Deciding to try a gladiator , for the tank classes do you distribute your bonus points into Vit as it is your "main" stat or more into strength for higher damage to create agro?

In similar threads the majority opinion is strength all the way, even while levelling, and only redistro some to vit in a special circumstance such as doing an endgame raid with subpar gear where you need some more HP buffer.
replaying a tank as a alt while waiting for HW
i put everything into STR for PLD and even craft myself STR acc on my main and meld VIT onto them and pass them thro my FC box to my alt
VIT is officially the controlling stat for tanking, however, having said that STR is still very useful and well worth investing at least some of your AP into, as like others have said it increases the damage you deal and thus allows you to hold hate better (although with GLA and later PLD as long as you use Flash effectively in combination with the right weapon skills and Provoke in an emergency you shouldn't have too much trouble keeping hate on your in most cases even if you go for full VIT).
The best advice I can give is to experiment and find what works best for you, full VIT, full STR or a bit of both. As the Keeper's Hymn item that allows you to reset a class's AP is now very cheap to buy it's definitely possible to experiment with how you spend your AP rather than just 'chuck everything into the class's main stat'.
If you are comfortable tanking and know what you are doing you should go with STR main reason being that you do more dmg which helps keep aggro a lot better from BLM flares and WHM holy it also makes killing the trash in dungeons slightly faster, when you are a bit under geared or still haven't grasped tanking very well I suggest going VIT so if you do mistake you can still come out of it and also as stated above its good to go full VIT in the end content like turn 3 of coil PS.also little tip do the lv 40 job class quest for paladin you would not believe how many tanks I have seen go to stone vigil normal without having shield oath
vitality used to be the norm most tanks would choose but go all Str. It really shows tanks that are mostly vitality as they have a hard time keeping agro, lol
Going as blm and using Quelling Strikes i can still rip agro from vitality tanks
I went all vit. Will give you breathing space early, you can always change it later with a option from your grand company. Holding hate with war Will be ok unless u have overgeared people that don't care, in which case let them have it.
Sorry, with glad.
im a fresh warr and im using 3:1 str:vit.
whit all craft to 50 i can easily maintain my equip all to date.
I initially leveled as a GLD when ARR first came out, patch 2.0. I went STR all the way while leveling, and it was the best decision I ever made. Where as every other tank seemed to have trouble keeping aggro, I had no problems. I didn't even have a problem after level 30 but before level 40, where most GLD/PLD suffer from DPS classes getting their AoE skills.
Until level 40 as a PLD, when you get Shield Oath, or level 30 as a WAR, when you get Defiance, both of which are enmity-increasing tank-buffs, you should definitely throw all attribute points into STR or you will suffer lots of lost aggro. After that, it's more situational, but I always felt that STR > VIT unless you needed the extra VIT for a mechanic or something.
