Please be more understanding of your fellow player

With the new expansion coming out in the near future it isn't surprising to see an influx of people new to a lot of content, especially story content. There are many returning players coming back to get ready for launch as well as players completely new to the game who became interested because of the expansion.

What I have seen becoming increasingly common yet again is a rise in incredibly rude and distasteful comments made to people who either do not know fights or want to watch cutscenes they haven't seen before while I am doing my daily roulettes.

An MMO is a social platform which relies on community. The "I know more than/am more experienced than you therefore I am better than you." attitude really needs to end. I am pleading with the community to please, stop being so disrespectful to newer players. It has a profoundly negative impact on the community and the game. Help people reach the same point you are and you will have more people to run content with. Thank you.

You can't really avoid some players in every game with that kind of an attitude. I've honestly felt like it has been a little better recently. Random DF people even put up with my attempts at learning to speedrun dungeons on warrior a few weeks ago. Last time I tried that was when Brayflox HM was still new, and the rude comments people made back then led to me quitting tank until just recently.

Anyway, I agree. "Don't be a dick" is something I live by when interacting with people online. I think we all want this game to succeed as we move forward into Heavensward and beyond, so treating everyone (especially new players) with respect will go a long way toward that.

I wouldn't say that there has been an increase. People have been terrible to each other, continued being terrible to each other, and will still be terrible to each other. No matter if it's the open hostility, the use of profanity, or, my favorite, the passive anger of a dot dot dot (...) to let us all know how insufferable you are, it's been a steady thing since the launch of the game. A bit of patience and constructive criticism goes a long way toward any duty finder group actually working together better. Hostility just drives groups apart, and if you feel like you need to be a jerk to address a problem, you should vote kick the player if it's gotten to that point or, perhaps, you are the problem.

been spamming dungeons for key items and lights the last two week... seeing an increase in people just ditching a group at the first hint of trouble--or worse when more than one person says they are new to the dungeon. Gets a little old, especially when it's an important role like Tank or Healer, forcing you to wait another 10-15 minutes after however long you waited for it to queue up in the first place. Sure.. you may be able to work through the trash mobs to make it to the next boss, but then your still waiting for that 4th to join.

The sad thing is, that even with the wait and all, can still manage to get the run done in about 30 minutes sometimes.

I have no problem with people being new as long as they say so up front, otherwise I'm just going to keep on trucking on the basis that everyone should know what's expected of them.

Typical scenario: zone in and get the new player bonus. "Who's new?" I ask. Deafening silence. Whatever. Get moving, someone screws up completely on first boss and wipes. "Sorry I'm new here". /facepalm

Or maybe people who hear/encounter stuff like what the OP is talking about could just... ignore it?

I try to get along with everyone I play with, and if someone is new to a run I've done before, I do whatever I can to help them out because I was in their position once. Unfortunately, those of us like this are in the vast minority of the community. More often than not if someone is running an old dungeon they're one of those players using the duty roulette who just wants to get it done quickly so they can move on to the next thing, rather than just enjoying the game they're playing. Which frankly doesn't make a lot of sense to me.....

That being said, I wholly agree that we need to be respectful and understanding of other players. If you happen to be new, or even if you're a veteran, and on Shiva server, hit me up and I'll be happy to run with you on just about any dungeon or trial. If you want it, I'm even willing to share what few words of wisdom I have, such as "don't stand there when the big attack hits" or "no, you shouldn't run up and dance inside the glowing circle like it's a disco". Well, that last one is up for debate.....

I only ever found people rude on my old server.
Don't mean to generalize, I'm sure there's plenty of supportive players in NA servers just most of the time I've come across some rude people at end game.
My Japanese isn't great but my time on my new server has been pleasant.
It got pretty annoying hearing people say "Just read a guide" if someone said they were new and wanted some quick tips
If people want to treat the game like a single player one why don't they just play Final Fantasy XII?

The game plays like an MMO and you don't have to deal with those pesky other players ruining your MULTIPLAYER Online experience.
