new to the game with a few questions

Hello there. I'm new to the game and this is actually my first post in the forums.

I had a few questions. My first one is about pvp. Do people do it at level 50? I just hit 30 and sat in a 75 minute queue with no game. I'm on ps4 if that helps.

My next one is about housing. Like, how? Haha. How much does it cost and how do you get started?

My final question is appearance. Is there any way to edit how your gear looks other than dye? Like is there a way to change the look into another piece of gear you like better?

PvP: Wolves Den nobody does. Frontlines (level 50, sync up & down to item level 80; 8v8v8 or 24v24v24 Grand Company PvP) is done, but still has a long queue time.

Housing: There are housing districts in each major city - they are not instanced, there are wards with a set amount of plots, but on many servers there are absolutely no plots available. or no small/medium. If your server is populated, you're probably out of luck until they add more wards.

Prices for your server listed (Diabolos) BEFORE price reduction over time: Small plots are 4-5mil, medium are 30-37mil, and large are 70-87mil. They aren't cheap.

Wards: The Lavender Beds - accessed from Central Shroud docks; The Goblet - accessed from outside the Ul'dah Gate of the Sultana (Western Thanalan); Mist - accessed near Red Rooster Stead in Lower La Noscea.

Gear appearance: Yep! This is called "glamouring." To unlock it, you do a level 50 (yep...not til 50, but it's an extra large money sink before 50 since you change gear regularly) quest, "A Self-Improving Man" in Mor Dhona from the NPC Wiscard. You'll then unlock the ability to use "Glamour Prisms" which are crafted by max level crafters - they sell for anywhere from 4-10k each on the market board, and you need one (which will be consumed on use) per item you glamour. Yeah. There's not really incentive for anyone to do PvP right now. Wolves Den was thrown aside in favor of Frontlines, then Frontlines was thrown aside in favor of...well...basically anything else there is to do. I'm not 100% sure why. I just assume it's because of Grand Company restrictions (You can't queue with friends from other grand companies; it's GC vs GC vs GC) keeping people from playing with their friends, or maybe they just got bored of it. I thought it was fun, though. :\

Maybe the expantion will breath some new life into pvp. We can hope I'm a big pvp player and it seems like this game would be super fun for pvp so I hope I get to experience it.

FFXIV is one of the best MMOs out there in every respect except PVP. The game is more PVE focused. However, the game is still young and over time they will continue adding to PVP, including a new PVP map in Heavensward. PVP use to be insanely active after Frontlines was released, but over time died down.

You can also change your personal appearance to an extent. You'll get a quest to unlock that in Limsa Lominsa--you should be able to do it now, I believe.

After you complete it, you can change your hair, paint, lip color, and facial features (the actual category, not your facial structure) at any time in an inn room for 2,000 gil.

To get a personal house, you also need to be at least level 50 and at least a Second Lieutenant in your Grand Company (which is currently max rank, though I think more ranks are being added in the expansion).

To buy an FC house, the FC needs to have reached Rank 6.

If your FC has a house, I believe the only requirement for buying a personal room within that FC house is that the FC leader needs to allow it for you in the FC's permissions settings.
If your FC has a house, in order to buy a personal room within that FC house, you need to be at least level 50 and a 2nd Lt. in your Grand Company, and the FC leader needs to allow it for you in the FC's permissions settings.
