I noticed that there is no digital pre-order available on the psn store, but there is a pre-order for the physical copy that comes with a code which lets you have early access to heavensward. here are my questions:

1. if i order the physical copy, do i have to wait until it gets here to actually play because it says when i attempt to order it, that it wont ship until after heavensward is already released.

2. would the early access code allow me to play the game until my physical copy arrives in the mail. (because i read somewhere that once the early access period is up, you have to wait until your physical copy gets here)

Yes, the early access code will work until a specific time after the expansion's launch at which time you're expected to register the retail code. As for when it goes up on PSN, it's very much up to Sony at this point.

1. No, you'll be able to download the HV client.
2. Yes, It'll work until the official release (which is June 23rd I believe?)

You are good to go...the code will be valid and good enough until you can input the code from the physical. I am doing the same thing. Which reminds me I need to see if I can activate my code yet...

Again with the blame on Sony, is not up to Sony at all. SE is either being lazy or cheap that's why we don't have it up on the PS store yet. Is not up to Sony, heck there's games available for preorder on the PS store that won't come out until 2016.

No, it's Sony's.

SE doesn't directly control the PSN store. They can try all they want, but it's all Sony's rules when to actually let people preorder via PSN.

It very much is Sony in control regarding PSN, else we'd not have had this happen.

Do not download this add on as if you do then you will no longer be able to play ffxiv, the only fix is to re-install the game and leave the add-on unchecked. The error message you will receive is "unable to complete version check [20458][24530][20457][404]".
Next time SE make sure that we are unable to even use the codes in the PSN store until the actual download works and doesn't mess with console players ability to play the game.

Square had to go and do an emergency hotfix to keep the codes Sony Europe shouldn't have allowed to work from working. But you should have known that, you posted in the very thread.

I'm starting to think PS4 users will not see early access at all. Less than a month to go, and nothing on the PS store (AU), either physical or digital.

You do realize that if that happens there will be mass chaos, exodus, pitchforks and torches, be a huge mess and probably lose alot of customers
