They're only strangers until you start talking to them.

Also, Half your FC might never talk to *you* specifically, but it allows for multiple raid teams within the company itself. .

Hell, when i played WoW, one of the raid guilds i was in came about as a merger between 5 smallish Guilds.
We then had an the Guild Masters of the individual Guilds of a special named rank for the Guild they came from and any members who came in from that guild were given a rank that matched their old guild name.

The end result was effectively 5 guilds worth of people in one chat channel, able to exchange raid members at a moments notice and fill in for teams that were missing something or just unbalanced between Ranged/Melee.

That Guild lasted for years. Don't have to know every Free Company Member personally for it to work.

I agree. You are adding strangers. But you know what? Everyone is a stranger to everyone else at some point. You add people to the FC so they can get to know other people, be friends, and socialize. Hell, I wouldn't be friends with half the people I am friends with in game if it wasn't for them being "strangers" added to a FC at one point. Having a common community such as a Free Company allows people to meet and become friends with other people with similar ideas, languages, and goals. And as everyone else has said, just because you don't personally talk to everyone in the FC doesn't mean no one does. A friend of yours might play with them all the time when you're not around, or a friend of said friend might.....

I really hope you're trolling, because I want to find it hard to believe that someone could be so self centered as to think that the entire in game social system revolves around themselves.....

Hello I am an officer in one of the largest cohesive groups in the world and I must politely request that you do not spread this Fear Uncertainty and Doubt about our glorious FCs. We currently actually need a limit of about 1500 members across the FC's to fully accommodate all our active members in our current super structure and we would appreciate it if you would not judge us just because we are fully righteous and able to lead a clear path. We are planning on expanding ourselves to a third FC for 3.0 so please be careful about this subject in the future, as it is very important to us. Thank you for reading.

Sorry you have no idea how large group cohesion works. Maybe try and raise the standards of excellence in FC leadership instead of trying to limit the number of people capable of joining an FC. Raise the standards, don't lower them.

My life while tanking is an existential hell from which there is no escape.
